Barn Owl Cottage and Swallow’s Loft are early 18th century barns which have been converted to provide character accommodation, clustered around a courtyard area, in a peaceful rural location in the Derwent Valley. To the rear of the barns is the original 'ice house' which used to serve Willersley Castle, the ancestral home of Sir Richard Arkwright’s family. You can enjoy easy access to various tourist attractions, particularly in nearby Matlock Bath, Bakewell, Carsington Water or visit the country houses of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. From the doorstep a short walk will take you to nearby Willersley Castle or alternatively to the River Derwent and nearby to the original Arkwright Mills which have been converted into craft shops, cafes, restaurants and factory shops. It is possible for up to 10 people to dine together in Swallows Loft. |

| This delightful barn has been converted to provide good sized accommodation, which benefits from being all on one level. You enter from the courtyard, where you can enjoy the early morning sun, into the spacious lounge with beamed ceiling. The bathroom, which is a good size, has a floor shower cubicle area, hand basin and toilet. Off the corridor are the two bedrooms, the main bedroom has a four poster double bed, with the benefit of a glazed door opening onto a courtyard sitting out area. The second bedroom having two single beds and a 2’6” bed, more suitable for a child. A further door off the corridor leads to the same patio area.
