Hall Cottage Hartington Sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms

This detached traditional cottage is believed to be over 300 years old and has thick, character limestone walls, an oak cruck’d frame, other exposed beams, eaves and gritstone fireplaces. It has been renovated to provide excellent accommodation in a village location with some good local facilities.

You can enjoy walking in nearby Dovedale, Wolfscote Dale and the Manifold Valley, cycle the Tissington Trail or a short drive will take you to the attractions of Alton Towers.

The front door opens into the main reception hall that has coat hooks and a boot rack. To your left you step down into the good-sized lounge with views to front and rear, and there is a welcoming log-burning stove inset into a gritstone fireplace.

To the right you step up into the spacious and well-equipped farmhouse kitchen/dining room with a special feature of a Victorian cast iron range set into another gritstone fireplace, in which you can light a cosy open fire. Off this room is a rear door that leads the garden.

A passage from the hall leads past the second bathroom, with electric shower, hand basin and toilet.

The stairs to the first floor open on to an attractive landing. To your right, you pass under the imposing oak cruck’d beam and up one more step to two bedrooms, each with a double bed.

To your left, and off the main landing up two steps, is the third bedroom that has a double bed and en suite toilet and hand basin. The fourth bedroom has two single beds.

A folding single bed can be put up in one of the double bedrooms if required, and a travel cot is also provided.

All bedrooms have eaves with restricted headroom, and their co-ordinated fabrics and colours lend plenty of charm.

Also off the landing is the main bathroom, with bath, hand basin, toilet and separate shower cubicle.

The rear garden is a good size, with limestone-flagged patio, flowerbeds, dry stonewalls and views across the roof tops of Hartington to open countryside beyond, and it takes in the afternoon and early evening sun.

A path leads from the back door, through a gat, to the parking area, which can take three cars.
