Barn Owl Cottage and Swallow’s Loft are early 18th century barns, which have been converted to provide character accommodation, clustered around a courtyard area, in a peaceful rural location in the Derwent Valley.
To the rear of the barns is the original 'ice house' which used to serve Willersley Castle, the ancestral home of Sir Richard Arkwright’s family. You can enjoy easy access to various tourist attractions, particularly in nearby Matlock Bath, Bakewell, Carsington Water or visit the country houses of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. From the doorstep a short walk will take you to nearby Willersley Castle or alternatively to the River Derwent and nearby to the original Arkwright Mills which have been converted into craft shops, cafes, restaurants and factory shops. It is possible for up to 10 people to dine together in Swallows Loft. |
