Jordanthorpe Farm Norton Sleeps 14 in 5 bedrooms

This detached Grade II listed stone farmhouse of great character dates back over 300 years, and is famous as the birthplace of the renowned painter and sculptor Sir Francis Chantrey, who was born here in 1781.

The farmhouse is located in a semi-rural position, just off the ring road, on the outskirts of the city of Sheffield, and benefits from all the amenities and services the city has to offer, this includes a large park, and a Leisure Centre within easy walking distance.

A short drive will take you into the Peak District National Park with nearby Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, the pretty market town of Bakewell, and some excellent walking in the Hope Valley and Edale at the beginning of the Pennine Way.

You enter the farmhouse through a small hall, which leads to a beamed country style kitchen, or alternatively through the main front Georgian door into a beamed dining hall, where up to 14 people can dine together, with flagged floors, rugs, occasional seating and an open log fire. This room has a very welcoming atmosphere and is ideal for group or family reunions.

Off this room a passage leads to a beamed study with a desk, seating, stone table and bookshelves. The passage continues to an inner hall off which is the very spacious beamed lounge, with a further open log fire and views over the garden.

Off the inner hall is the beamed country style farmhouse kitchen/breakfast Room with gas fired Aga, an additional large Rangemaster cooker and black granite worktops, off the kitchen there is a separate utility room.

From the kitchen a rear hall leads to a good-sized ground floor bedroom that has a double and a single bed, and opposite is a ground floor cloakroom, with hand basin and toilet.

The rear hall also provides access to the conservatory, with occasional seating, and doors opening out to the garden. From the Dining Hall, stairs lead to three bedrooms.

The spacious main bedroom has a double bed and two single beds, an en suite bathroom, with marbled cast iron bath, hand basin and toilet. The second bedroom has a double and a single bed, and the third bedroom has a beamed sloping ceiling and a double bed.

A bathroom, also on this floor, has a corner bath with shower over, hand basin, bidet and toilet.

Directly from the Ground floor bedroom, a door leads to a secondary staircase and landing, off which there is a bedroom, with a double bed, and a separate bathroom with bath, hand basin, bidet, toilet, and a shower cubicle with electric shower.

A large courtyard provides ample parking for 6 or 7 vehicles.

Please note there is a resident house cat in this property.
