Escape the hectic pace of everyday life with a stay in this rural retreat for four on the north-western edge of the Peak District National Park. Tucked away amongst the rolling hills close to the popular village of Hayfield, you have ample walking routes on your doorstep including the historical Kinder Scout trail and the Pennine Way. With so many options, every day will offer a new challenge. In the evening, you can soak up the unbridled views of the Derbyshire countryside from your terrace or venture 1.5 miles into Hayfield to dine at one of the many gourmet pubs.

Adjoined to the owner’s property, this traditional stone cottage enjoys a peaceful rural position with spectacular, far-reaching views. Enter the spacious lounge/diner on the ground floor, which has a wood burner for colder evenings and plenty of comfortable seating. Stairs lead up to the first floor where you’ll find the simple, but well-equipped, kitchen/diner, the two well-appointed bedrooms and a large family bathroom. Outside, the property’s unique selling point becomes apparent: an elevated patio with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The owner also has a flock of sheep that you’re welcome to meet.

Walk until you can walk no more in this beautiful part of the national park. Close to the dramatic and rugged landscape of the Dark Peak, there are plenty of challenging routes to choose from as well as the Sett Valley Trail, a flat greenway route for cyclists, horse-riders and walkers that links Hayfield to New Mills. Also worth the drive are the undulating hills of Edale (12.5 miles); and with good rail links, you don’t always have to opt for a circular route. Give your legs a day off by visiting the picturesque, historic town of Chapel-en-le-Frith (6 miles) and spa town Buxton (12 miles).

Great Location for beautiful walks from the door step. Great cottage and friendly hosts next door. Having the Kitchen on 1st floor was not ideal for us but everything was as described and there was lots of information on things to do nearby in the lovely large lounge and welcome fireplace.

Not really suitable for 4 adults with only 1 bathroom. Heating not controlled from the cottage. Hot water pressure in shower and bath very low.

Cosy and practical cottage, good location and well equipped. Would happily recommend to others. One thing worth considering if bringing dogs is the stairs have polished wood treads, so potentially little tricky for some dogs.
