A charming cottage set in a rural location with spectacular walks, cycle trails and bridle paths on its doorstep making it the perfect bolthole for explorers on foot, bike or noble steed.

Situated in The Dark Peak on the north western edge of the Peak National Park this is one of four cottages set in this delightful rural setting with rolling views towards Mam Tor and beyond. Take in a visit to Castleton with its caves and also Peveril Castle. There are also a variety of eating places for you to enjoy during your stay. The owners have a number of animals on site including horses and alpacas.

Similar in style and character to the Irishman’s cottage this good sized cottage is again full of charm and character. This rural location is an ideal base from which to explore this area of the Peak National Park with some excellent walking from the doorstep and in nearby Edale at the beginning of the Pennine Way. You can visit the mines at Castleton or take in the culture of Buxton with the theatre opera house and various other attractions. It is possible for up to 12 people to dine together in another property onsite. You enter the accommodation which has been turned upside down into the main entrance hallway off which are the two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed and benefits from the views down the valley the second bedroom has two single beds. There is also a bathroom on this floor with a ‘walk in shower’ hand basin and toilet. The oak staircase takes you to the first floor which has a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams into the spacious and open plan kitchen dining and lounge area. The room has a fireplace with a log burning stove and enjoys some outstanding views down the valley. The second bathroom on this floor has a bath with hand shower toilet and hand basin the vaulted beam ceiling adding further to its charm.

There is a garden area for the cottage which takes in the sun during the early part of the day and is behind the cottage looking directly onto the views down the valley.

Guests are welcome to wander over to the paddocks where the owners’ horses and alpacas graze. If you’re travelling in a larger party, why not book all four cottages at this location to accommodate 16 people in total.

Really enjoyed our stay in TopTack. Excellent position to explore the Peaks and we travelled into Manchester to an event. The cottage was spotless and comfortable for our family of 4 and the two bathrooms were a godsend with a 14 year and a 2 year old. Our daughters particularly enjoyed waking up to the view of the alpacas. We will be back!

A nice, spacious 2 bed cottage. Very cosy and warm with lovely log burner and plenty of hot water. Part of a group of cottages and a large B&B in a beautiful, remote spot. On the Pennine Way and great for walking up Rushup Edge and Mam Tor. Our toddler particularly enjoyed the horses and alpacas. Wifi internet was decent considering how remote it iRead mores and 4G mobile signal was good. Hide

A lovely spacious cottage in the Peak District. Set in a rural location, but still close to local amenities. Convenient for Bakewell, Buxton and the Castletown Caverns. The resident Alpacas were a lovely distraction.

We had a lovely stay at Top Tack and it was very peaceful. Cottage well equipped and comfortable. Think it is a great base if you are a keen walker and enjoy being outside. Could be a little more cosy for those winter evenings. All in all nice cottage, very quiet and no noisy neighbours which was lovely.

This cottage was amazing. we loved its quirky ness and open views of the surrounding country side. this was mainly due to the sitting room being on the top floor. Great country feel despite lovely little villages close by and many interesting walks not far away to keep us busy for the week thank you
