Situated in The Dark Peak on the north western edge of the Peak National Park this is one of four cottages set in this delightful rural setting with rolling views towards Mam Tor and beyond. Take in a visit to Castleton with its caves and also Peveril Castle. There are also a variety of eating places for you to enjoy during your stay. The owners have a number of animals on site including horses and alpacas.

Similar in style and character to the Irishman’s cottage this good sized cottage is again full of charm and character. This rural location is an ideal base from which to explore this area of the Peak National Park with some excellent walking from the doorstep and in nearby Edale at the beginning of the Pennine Way. You can visit the mines at Castleton or take in the culture of Buxton with the theatre opera house and various other attractions. It is possible for up to 12 people to dine together in another property onsite. You enter the accommodation which has been turned upside down into the main entrance hallway off which are the two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed and benefits from the views down the valley the second bedroom has two single beds. There is also a bathroom on this floor with a ‘walk in shower’ hand basin and toilet. The oak staircase takes you to the first floor which has a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams into the spacious and open plan kitchen dining and lounge area. The room has a fireplace with a log burning stove and enjoys some outstanding views down the valley. The second bathroom on this floor has a bath with hand shower toilet and hand basin the vaulted beam ceiling adding further to its charm.

There is a garden area for the cottage which takes in the sun during the early part of the day and is behind the cottage looking directly onto the views down the valley.

Guests are welcome to wander over to the paddocks where the owners’ horses and alpacas graze. If you’re travelling in a larger party, why not book all four cottages at this location to accommodate 16 people in total.

Top Tack is a lovely peaceful place to stay with beautiful, far reaching views from both the living room and the main bedroom. It is comfortable and well equipped. There are good walks from the property, but there is a lot of livestock around, so our dogs had to be mainly on their leads. We just had a short break of three nights, but are keen to reRead moreturn for a longer break in the future. Hide

Spent a lovely long weekend. Cottage has a number of walks from the doorstep. Breakfasts are delicious and really set you up for the day. Patio area was small but lovely to catch the morning sun, with a beautiful view.

Gate at Top Tack outside space, was a worry for us , as we could visualise our small dogs potentially squeezing through. Placed outside chairs across gate , to add an extra barrier. However, our stay was lovely, Top tack is perfectly situated for all the places we visited and the ones we didn't have time for . The views from our cottage of the 3 ExRead moremoor ponies situated in field behind, plus far reaching views beyond them. Were beyond excellent. Quiet ,peaceful retreat. Hide

Really lovely cottage. The pictures don't show how beautiful it is. Fully equipped and very clean. Spacious enough for four people with two bathrooms. Wonderful and peaceful view. The owners, with their warm welcome and helpfulness, make the difference. We will definitely come back!

Lovely cottage very remote, tiny road down to it, very well equipped had everything we needed. Great views from the cottage overlooking alpacas. Garden furniture was a bit tired and wall very low so couldnt really use it in case our whippet jumped it to get to alpacas and very mossy as there is a big tree covering it. Great for visiting surroundingRead more areas such as Buxton, Bakewell and Glossop. Overall a brilliant holiday would definitely stay here again. Hide
