Great location, lovely out look from the garden and comfortable beds. Shame about the tired feel of the cottage, smell of dog and lack of natural light in the kitchen (which photos did not show). Definitely recommend the area, so much to do and see.

Had a great stay. Is a quirky, old mill workers cottage. Lots of steep steps and different levels in the cottage and garden - we loved it. Great location for walks, pubs and the station. Was equipped with everything you could think of and more. Lovely stay with our 3 greyhounds. Location perfect for the town and walks. Garden is not connected directly with property so had to walk dogs to it, but it is enclosed and private with views and used several times in the sunshine. There are a few cats so beware. Had a lovely conversation with the lady at No20 about the walks to the quarry and BlacRead morek Rocks. Facilities are everything you need, even a hairdryer. Storage plentiful. Parking never a problem. 80 yr old mum coped with stairs backwards. Hide

We really enjoyed our stay at Arkwright Cottage. It was very welcoming and we felt at home. The layout is quirky (in a good way!) and we felt privileged to be able to stay in a historic building. The cottage is well equipped and clean. The neighbours were friendly. We highly recommend.

A perfect location to explore the local area and a lovely cottage to stay in, plenty of quirky character. I was mildly concerned about the parking before our stay but never had an issue, always seemed to be spaces available, maybe not outside the door but never far. The garden was a blessing, our Lakeland loved it, especially the pears!

Great location in historic village. Cottage is large enough, but layout slightly awkward with steep stairs and twists and turns to get through. Lovely sunny cottage garden at the back and very reasonably priced local pub on the corner. Price/quality ratio on the whole great.

All fine other than the position of the garden, which needs to be made more clear on the webpage. You cannot let your dogs out directly from the back door. It wasn't a problem, but it should be included in the details, and also the back door didn't close properly which would be an issue for a family with young children.

Arkwright cottage is as we expected for an old mill workers cottage, not that spacious downstairs and a higgledy piggledy layout but saying that it was clean and fairly comfortable. Lovely cottage in great location. The beds were comfy, the kitchen well equipped and leaflets on the area were a nice touch as well as the milk, biscuits tea coffee etc. As other guests have said, there are lots of steep stairs but they also add to the charm of the place. My partner and I had a wonderful Christmas at this Arkwright Cottage. We felt so lucky to stay in a historic weavers cottage, made originally for the workers at the Arkwright Mill, down the road.
