Relax in this wonderful family home which has been beautifully decorated providing a serene holiday escape right in the middle of Ashbourne, you are spoilt for choice with amenities to explore.

Ashbourne with its Georgian terraces, 13th century church, colourful market square, heritage trail, country stores and antique shops provides lots to see and explore. Set at the end of picturesque Dove Dale enjoy the Tissington Trail with its cycle hire, Matlock Bath's little Switzerland gorge, Peak Rail's steam trains puffing along the Derwent Valley and the National Tramway Museum for fun for the whole family. However, remember to leave some time aside to enjoy Chatsworth House and gardens, visit the dramatic Derwent Valley 'Dambuster' dams and even experience the heart stopping thrills on the latest rides at nearby Alton Towers.

Stepping through the courtyard leads you to the entrance of the property, the handy hallway provides space to take off your shoes, hang up your coat and wander through to the lounge. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is overlooked by patio doors letting the light flood in. The cosy lounge space offers sumptuous sofas to put your feet up and relax by the wood burner effect electric fire. There is a step down to the well-equipped kitchen area which offers everything you need for a home away from home stay, such as electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, microwave and washing machine. And, there is a dining table which provides seating for six when needed and completing the ground floor is the handy separate WC. Heading up to the first floor is a beautiful double bedroom decorated with a feature wall and stylish soft fabrics, a twin bedroom with its individual colour scheme and a family bathroom with shower over bath and WC. Heading up to the second floor a further tastefully decorated double bedroom with handy en-suite shower room and WC can be found.

Outside the property is a rear courtyard which is enclosed and offers outdoor seating with table and parasol for six people to sit and enjoy the summer sun. There is allocated off-road parking for one car and unlimited parking a little further up the nearby lane.

We had a lovely stay at The Snug, very relaxing, close to the shops & restaurants for a stroll into town, with a nice local children's play area. Lots to do locally, we walked to the Tissington Trail from the cottage where we hired bikes & had a lovely day out. Great location to visit all areas of the peak district. Nice & cosy cottage with everythRead moreing we needed including a lovely welcome pack. Would definitely recommend & we plan on coming back. Hide

The Snug was very cosy, clean and nicely decorated. A lot of thought had gone into everything needed by visitors. Fresh flowers were a nice touch. The property is in the centre of Ashbourne which has plenty of good places to eat and drink. However it is located extremely near to a busy cross road with heavy traffic passing just about 24/7. I didnt Read morerealise so many tankers and large lorries existed. If you own a good pair of ear plugs take them with you and enjoy your stay at The Snug. Hide

This was our first visit to The Peak District and it didn't disappoint. The Snug is a lovely property, well furnished and comfortable. I was aware, obviously, that it was situated in a town and would not be as quiet as if we had stayed in the countryside, but I think it should be made clear in the "Need to know" section, just how much heavy trafficRead more passes the property, 24/7. A great location for accessibility to Peak District walks and attractions. Easy 5 minute walk into Ashbourne with lots of places to eat and shop. The Snug was clean and well equipped and the Welcome basket was a lovely touch. Only downside is that The Snug is on a very busy road junction.
