Escape to this gorgeous retreat and treat yourselves to a romantic break for two. Set close to the owner’s property near Tansley, yet enjoying its privacy, the one-bedroom, stone cottage sleeps two guests and also welcomes one canine companion to join in the fun. Plan days out in the Peak District, which begins just 2 miles from the holiday home; enjoy afternoons out in the market town of Matlock, approximately 1.5 miles away, or simply unwind at the tranquil cottage, with its private, courtyard garden.

Climb a set of steps to enter the cottage at first-floor level, where there is a welcoming, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Light the wood burner-style gas fire in here and cosy up on the sofa to watch TV or a DVD. Prepare delicious dinners for two on the nights you choose not to eat out then lay the table for your romantic meal. Follow the stairs down to the ground floor where the super-king bedroom, with its large windows, is situated. Find the elegant bathroom, with its stylish bath is close by. Dine out in the courtyard on summer days and light the BBQ on balmy evenings. Find parking for two cars at the cottage.

Those who love the great outdoors will be spoiled for choice when it comes to footpaths and cycle routes to follow in their surroundings. Enjoy a gentle 1-mile stroll to pretty Lumsdale Falls or head 4 miles to scenic Ogston Reservoir and then embark upon a 2-mile walk around the lake. Plan a trip to the celebrated Heights of Abraham, 3 miles away, where you can take an exciting cable car ride across the valley. Make your way into Matlock to wander around the famous town, ponder in shops and pause for a bite to eat or a pint of local ale.
