Escape to this stylish, stone built house crammed with character, set in this peaceful Peak District village, excellent for keen walkers and nature lovers.

Deep in the Derbyshire Dales, this quintessential stone-built house is the perfect base from which to explore this stunning area on foot or by bicycle. Only a short walk from the upper reaches of Dovedale and Manifold Valley in the spectacular Peak District National Park, there is plenty to keep every type of adventurer busy, from hiking to climbing, kayaking and mountain biking. Afterwards, return to this welcoming retreat to warm up beside the roaring wood burner or enjoy a BBQ in the picturesque garden.

Brimming with character and charm, this sympathetically modernised property retains exposed beams, stone mullion windows and two fantastic inglenook fireplaces. The country-style kitchen is equipped with all your culinary needs, while a handy utility room is a great place for drying off wet boots and paws. Tuck into family feasts in the grand dining room with its warming wood burner and delightful window seat before sinking into one of the inviting sofas in the lounge while a second wood burner keeps you warm and cosy. Upstairs, three spacious bedrooms ensure a restful night’s sleep for all, while the free-standing bath is the perfect place to soothe tired muscles at the end of the day. Heading outside, the delightful cottage garden bordered by a dry-stone wall and mature trees is a peaceful spot for al fresco dining.

The unspoilt village of Wetton makes a great base for any keen adventurer - after a long day, grab a restorative bite to eat in the 14th-century pub or charming tearoom. Set out on foot to take on the wonderful Dovedale, discovering its towering limestone crags, grassy slopes and wildflower meadows, or visit Thor’s Cave (1 mile) with its Stone Age history and fabulous views. A perfect location for a stay in The Peaks. Wetting itself is a lovely, quiet village. The cottage is very well appointed and tastefully decorated. We ate at a few of the pubs nearby. All of which provided very good meals. I would definitely recommend

The cottage is large & spacious & very warm. Offroad parking is great as is the location in the village but the pub next door was not as good as the their website indicates. We had drinks there on one occasion & decided from that not to eat there. The pub in the next village of Butterton was much nicer.
