Feel like Lords and Ladies of the Manor with a stay in this self-contained guest wing of a 16th-century listed manor house in the stunning Rivelin Valley. Located on the eastern edge of the Peak District National Park, only 4.5 miles from Sheffield, you have the best of both worlds. Explore the natural beauty of The Peaks by day, and by night, splash out on exquisite city dining in vibrant Sheffield. Surrounded by tranquil countryside, this home-away-from-home is the ideal place for families or friends to relax and unwind.

Bursting with tradition, this cottage’s heritage is evident from the minute you arrive on the cobbled courtyard and approach the front door. Sympathetically renovated, original features add character and charm throughout, whilst a blend of contemporary and traditional furniture creates a unique style. The lounge is welcoming with the roar of the wood burner, the ticking of a grandfather clock and the comfort of the sofas. Next door, the farmhouse kitchen/diner is bright, airy and well-equipped. From here, head up the stone stairs to three delightful bedrooms, an en-suite shower room and a family bathroom. The walled garden is accessed from this floor and affords countryside views; an ideal spot for al fresco dining.

Linking Sheffield to the Peak District, follow the Rivelin Valley Nature Trail through woodland and alongside the river; it’s dotted with play areas, waterfalls and paddling spots for kids of all ages and has a cafe. For more adventurous guests, Hope Valley is nearby with more challenging walks, such as that to Bamford Edge (8 miles) which offers spectacular views. Equally as picturesque is Edale (17 miles). Intrepid explorers may want to head underground, so visit the caves at Castleton (14 miles).
