Full of character, this attractive property makes the perfect rural escape for a small family or two couples. Set in the picturesque village of Tideswell, you’ll be surrounded by beautiful limestone uplands with walking opportunities at every turn. Stroll through the village’s nature reserve to Miller’s Dale (3 miles), or head to Castleton (8 miles) to climb Mam Tor or explore the magnificent show caves. The spa town of Buxton (7.5 miles), with its independent shops and eateries, is also within easy reach.

At the heart of this cosy cottage is the gorgeous lounge/diner. Vibrant soft furnishings, coupled with period features, give the space personality and charm. Sink into the plump sofa or curl up in the round armchair to warm your toes in front of the wood burner and watch your favourite programme on the Smart TV/DVD. Gather around the dining table to enjoy breakfast together whilst planning the day’s activities or take five minutes in the window seat to sip your coffee and watch the world go by. From the stylish kitchen, steps lead to the raised patio area, with bistro-style furniture and a BBQ. There’s also a handy wash station for your muddy boots.

On the outskirts of the village, you’ll find the Tideswell Dale Nature Reserve. This sheltered limestone gorge is a lovely spot for a picnic, full of wild flowers and butterflies. From here, take a 6-mile circular walk to the pretty settlement of Miller’s Dale, on the banks of the River Wye. Enjoy a hearty meal in the riverside inn before joining the traffic-free Monsal Trail for the second leg of your walk. Castleton is full of history and well worth exploring. Take a hike to the summit of Mam Tor for spectacular views, before heading underground to marvel at the magical show caves.
