Perfect for families and friends, this former silk mill has been styled with an eye for detail and offers a fantastic place to call home when visiting the Peak District.

This impressive abode is ideal for families and friendship groups seeking adventures galore across the Peak District National Park. Set across three floors in a reverse-level style and equipped with storage space for muddy boots and coats, this stylish bolthole is situated within the ancient village of Wirksworth, 4.5 miles from Matlock. With the rolling hills and rugged open moorland on your doorstep, you’ll soon be navigating exciting trails and returning to soak in your private hot tub under the stars.

Quintessential and charming, your accommodation (reached via a few steps) is everything you would expect from a classic Peak District property. Vaulted ceilings with characterful timber frames and mellow stone walls provide the old-world feel, but everything else is elegant and contemporary including the tasteful furniture and array of home comforts. Whether you are sinking into the sofas to watch TV or rustling up a delicious supper to enjoy around the table, you’ll do so in style. Each of the three bedrooms is opulent and comfortable, and the bathroom facilities are a treat when you are weary from the day’s explorations.

The pretty streets of Wirksworth host a variety of shops, eateries and even an independent cinema for light entertainment, a must when you are keen to kick back and relax. Adrenaline enthusiasts are well catered for with canoeing, windsurfing and fishing at Carsington Water (4 miles), or you may prefer to tackle the myriad of footpaths on offer. Matlock has a treasure trove of attractions to suit visitors of all ages such as the imposing Heights of Abraham (3.5 miles), and the regal Chatsworth House is 12.5 miles away which eagle-eyed film buffs may recognise from Pride and Prejudice.

Everything about Silk Mill House says 'quality', from the warm welcome on arrival to the high specification of the fixtures and fittings, which made our stay so comfortable. Our hosts were very responsive to our questions, too, which shows the attention to detail that has been invested in every element of the house.

We were wowed by the property as soon as we entered. You can't fault the cleanliness, amenities and small touches around the whole property. The owners had left a hamper full of goodies from the local shops which we did not expect. I highly recommend booking this property for your next stay

To sum up the Silk Mill in one word it would have to be WOW! We loved it. Everything has been thought of and considered. What an amazing place. The decor is gorgeous. You can tell that the owners really love this place with no expense spared on the finishing touches. Wirksworth is a lovely quaint place. The Hope and Anchor do a lovely Sunday dinnerRead more. If there was a downside for folk it would be the amount of stairs but this was not an issue for us. The views were worth it. Just LOVED it!!!! Hide
