Perfect for couples, small families and friends wanting a break in a historic market town which borders a National Park, surrounded by miles of rolling countryside and popular tourist attractions.

Studded against the stunning backdrop of the Derbyshire Dales close to beautiful Dovedale and Thorpe Cloud, Ashbourne is like taking a step back in time. Navigate the pretty streets and pick up some tempting local produce, returning to your quintessential cottage that sleeps four. Tailored to small families and couples alike, it’s a great base for exploring and offers a ringside seat for enjoying the Peak District National Park.

Cosy and characterful, this family-friendly abode is accessorised with comfortable furniture and thoughtful attention to detail. Plan a film night and load up on some goodies before curling up on the sofa. There’s a country cottage-style kitchen/diner with everything you need for whipping up light lunches and hearty dinners, and from here you can slip outside to the pretty courtyard garden for coffee in the sunshine. Upstairs, the two bedrooms await for a restful night’s sleep. Completing the property is a generous bathroom with a shower over the bath for long soaks, and there is on-street parking to the front of the cottage subject to availability.

Ashbourne is best known for its historic architecture, cafe culture and thriving arts scene, so you’ll have plenty to discover as you explore. There are independent shops and tearooms to peruse, and the annual arts festival sees the entire village come to life with exciting attractions to behold. Further afield, Alton Towers is a must for young thrill-seekers, 11.5 miles away, but you can also enjoy water sports galore at Carsington Water, 6.5 miles away. Matlock Bath is 12.5 miles away and certainly worth a visit to appreciate the scenery that has earned the village the nickname of ‘Little Switzerland’.

The 4 of us and Tinker the terrier had a lovely weekend in Ashbourne. The clean cosy and well equipped cottage was in a good location within minutes of the town where there was an abundance and variety of places to eat and drink as well as lots of independent shops. Ashbourne is very dog friendly and I found plenty of walks around including the hugRead moree park. Theres plenty of wardrobe space in both bedrooms and no problem with parking for our 2 cars almost outside the door Hide

Fantastic cottage! Immaculate, cosy and so well equipped. Had everything we needed (and more) for a week away with our two young girls (aged 4 and 22 months) and our dog. Lovely owner and a lovely touch with welcoming tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. Great little outdoor enclosed space. Conifer cottage is the perfect placed to explore the beautiful Read moreAshbourne which is a 5 minute walk away, and the surrounding Derbyshire countryside. Cant recommend it enough! Hide
