Located in a charming Derbyshire village midway between Belper and Matlock, this beautifully converted former mill makes a relaxing retreat for six guests. This delightful property lies in a secluded spot perfect for glimpsing some of the local wildlife which visits the garden and pond. Just a few miles from the Peak District National Park, this pretty holiday home is ideal for families and friends exploring the villages, market towns and woodlands of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. With stone flooring, exposed beams and a wood burner, the kitchen is perfect for preparing a favourite meal, with plenty of space to relax as well. The spacious dining room is ideal for everyone to gather and chat about the day. Upstairs, the first floor features a characterful lounge with wooden flooring, open fire and smart TV, providing a lovely space to unwind. Also on the first floor is a shower room and a super-king-size bedroom with charming views. Two further bedrooms are on the second floor: a super-king-size room and a king-size room with exposed beams and stonework. Outside is an enclosed patio garden and half an acre of natural garden which is not enclosed and the owners focus their efforts on providing a haven for local wildlife. There is a large wildlife pond where children and pets should be supervised, and the mature garden features a couple of secluded seating areas providing tranquil spots for hearing the stream passing over the nearby waterfall. The market towns of Belper (4 miles) and Matlock (8 miles) have plenty of great pubs, shops and restaurants, and are ideal for exploring the Peak District and Derwent Valley. Local attractions include Crich Tramway Village, Gulliver’s Kingdom, Heage Windmill, Belper River Gardens, Harborough Rocks and the Heights of Abraham (all within 8 miles), Carsington Water (12 miles) and Chatsworth House (18 miles).

Wow what a wonderful place! The house is full of charm, it was quiet and peaceful with walks from the door. Ideally situated to explore the countryside and the Peak District. Really comfortable and very well equipped we didnt want to leave!

Wonderful location and the best place we've stayed at for dogs, especially the enclosed garden area but also the wild part with stream and pond. Excellent local shopping facilities, and walking - we do like the area and would like to stay here again.

Had a great week in a wonderful location and accommodation. Well presented, clean and tidy with the added bonus of a gift from the owners. Small issue which was rectified quickly and professionally. Highly recommended if you want a peice of the rural setting with a spot of luxury.

We stayed at The Old Mill for a week in August and it was fantastic. The location is beautiful and the accommodation was very comfortable with large rooms and well equipped. The outside space was fabulous in the sunshine. Communication with the owner was really smooth and very responsive. Absolutely beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Spotlessly clean throughout and everything we could have wished for was provided including provisions for our dogs. A beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet and rural location. Lots of walks from the doorstep and loads of tourist attractions nearby. A beautiful, quirky and well equipped cottage in a rural location. The cottage was a little walk from the parking area and the access was quite awkward - needing to reverse in and out down a narrow driveway. The garden was interesting and large, with lots of areas. A wonderful holiday accommodation full of character where everything has been thought of to make you feel at home and relaxed. The beds were so comfortable, we really had to push ourselves to get out of them. Very peaceful, with many lovely walks nearby as well as a lot of interesting places to visit nearby. Our dog had a great time too.

The cottage is as good as it looks in the photos: charming and comfortable. The bedrooms are big with really comfortable beds. The shower is ideal after a day out - quite often this lets older cottages down, not in this case. The kitchen is well equipped. We had the most wonderful week at The Old Mill. A perfect mix of modern and traditional and so well equipped. It is located in such a peaceful spot with plenty of outdoor spaces to explore and beautiful walks on the doorstep.
