The wonderful hilltop location provides guests with some of the finest views in the area. It’s a special moment to draw back the curtains in The Curlew and watch the sun rise over the fells, from the comfort of your bed.
This quirky, romantic retreat is the perfect escape for one or two people. The gorgeous large shepherd’s hut is located on a farm near the village of Marple Bridge, enjoying a tranquil rural setting and extraordinary views.
Cleverly crafted to make the most of space and provide a cosy and comfortable home from home, this glamping getaway is the traditional corrugated-iron-clad, curved-roofed shape elevated on wheels, accessed via four external wooden steps. Inside, the bright and breezy room is centred on a blacksmith-crafted wood burner and has a king-size bed at one end. It has storage below, lights above and a window at the foot to frame the exquisite views. Top tip: wake up early and watch the sun rise – it's spectacular. There is hanging space, seating either side of a small dining table, and a hand-made kitchen that includes a Belfast sink, oak worktops, a fridge, a microwave, and a two-ring induction hob. In the chic bathroom you’ll find a spacious shower, heated towel rail and waterless flushing toilet. Store rucksacks and walking boots in the box on the gravel terrace outside, part of the beautiful wildflower meadow that surrounds the hut, where you’ll also find a bistro set, a Lutyens bench seat and a summerhouse with seating, all of them marvellous places in which to enjoy a book or simply listen to birdsong.
For exploring the great outdoors, this area is the perfect choice: criss-crossed by footpaths and bridleways, it provides walks and cycle rides through moorland and woodlands, in picturesque countryside and beside canals, right from the door of the hut. In Marple Bridge, 2.5 miles, you’ll find boutique shops, local pubs and great places to eat, while the National Trust’s Lyme Park is 4.5 miles and the spa town of Buxton is 15 miles.
