Settle in for the perfect romantic getaway in this characterful stone cottage with sweeping countryside vistas and ideally situated on the edge of the Peak District. This stylish bolthole is perfect for a couple of walking enthusiasts and their waggy-tailed third wheel. Get hearts racing as you hike along the rugged clifftop trails to the High Tor peak, then stretch out with a sparkling tipple in the roaring heat of your wood burner.

This inviting country abode boasts a warm interior with earthy stone and leather textures, light-flooded rooms, and farmhouse design details. Amble along the path to the rear of the property where you can kick off muddy boots and then step into the ground-floor lounge. Sink onto the sofa with a brew and curl up with a book or raid the selection of games for some evening fun. Head upstairs to the first floor and discover the lounge/kitchen/diner. Whip up a meal for two in the chic shaker kitchen with a Mandale limestone backsplash then settle in for a celebratory dinner at the spacious wooden dining table. As the night draws in, unwind in the lounge area with a sweet treat and soak up the ambient warmth of the wood burner. On the second floor, discover the inviting king-size bedroom with a feature fireplace and a tranquil reading nook overlooking the rolling emerald hills. In warmer months, perch with a morning coffee on the outdoor furniture and admire the views beyond while your pup plays in the enclosed garden.

For a post-adventure pint, scope out the pubs on Smedley Street, 500 metres, serving up locally brewed real ales. Set on the eastern fringes of the Peak District, Matlock Town, 1 mile, is the perfect location for a riverside stroll before settling in for a leisurely lunch. Ascend past rugged limestone cliffs on a cable car at the Heights of Abraham (dog friendly), 3 miles, and saunter through the 60 acres of woodland walks.

A lovely cottage with all you need for a week away. It is on 3 floors so very much as described. The views are fantastic across the valley. It's a great centre for visiting lots of places including the Chatsworth estate, Carsington reservoir, Buxton, Haddon Hall, etc.... Dog owners - the exercise area is just over the road through a gate with graveRead morel and grass areas available so not a huge issue. Hide

This cottage is really lovely, and had been decorated beautifully for the festive season. The owners have a high attention to detail and have thought of everything! I'm looking forward to visiting again in the future.

Beautiful, cosy, clean little cottage. Very well equipped with a comfy bed and amazing views from the back windows. We would definitely stay again if we didnt have the dog with us and thats only because we couldnt let him out for a quick toilet break, late night and early morning, without having to put his lead on and go with him.

Lovely holiday home in a great location. It was the first time we had taken our puppy on holiday. It worked out well, but for other dog owners I would say its better suited to a smallish dog thats not overly active. Fantastic to be a few minutes walk from the Laburnum Arms, although like many eating and drinking places only open at the end of the wRead moreeek. And the Sycamore a bit further along did a fabulous pie! Only a short drive to local attractions and some nice walks close by. Hide
