Located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, this beautiful stone-built cottage is the perfect rural retreat for a couple or solo traveller to come and enjoy its cosy ambience and lovely shared garden in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside.

Stepping inside, you'll find a bright and airy kitchen with space to store coats and shoes, as well as everything you need to prepare delicious meals. The kitchen leads to an inviting lounge/diner with exposed beams, supple leather seating around the smart TV, and a warming electric wood burner. A dining table under the large windows provides the setting for meal times. Upstairs, a bathroom and a sunlit super-king-size bedroom await, boasting views out over the surrounding countryside. Outside, the pretty shared garden features a wooden bench on which to sit back and appreciate the tranquillity of this peaceful Derbyshire locale.

The area has a rich history and serves as an ideal retreat for walkers, cyclists, and enthusiasts of charming villages and historic homes. The village boasts two inviting pubs, and a local microbrewery is less than a mile away, as is the picturesque Lumsdale Falls, a designated World Heritage site. Matlock, an old spa town, sits within 2 miles, while the dramatic limestone cliffs of Matlock Bath are nearby too. Matlock is also home to Lovers' Walks, a picturesque path running along the banks of the Derwent River. Alternatively, take a cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham (3.5 miles) for a panoramic view of the surrounding area. For water sports enthusiasts, Carsington Water, 8 miles away, features an excellent water sports centre. The majestic Chatsworth House, with its roaming deer and beautiful gardens, awaits 11 miles from home, and picturesque Bakewell, renowned for its famous pudding, is 10 miles from your door.

This is a delightful cottage and ideally located for exploring the southern part of the Peak District. It is quietly located in a village just outside Matlock and is well-equipped, light and comfortable. The hosts are warm and welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay in this delightful cottage. It was very peaceful and in a lovely location. The cottage was comfortable and has a large bedroom.
