Set within the owner’s land, this single-storey property has a unique and uplifting character that combines vibrant colours and patterns, original artworks and an eclectic collection of furnishings. Step straight in to the open-plan living space, which is full of light thanks to large windows and a pale timber floor. Watch birds coming and going among the trees surrounding the cottage or, in the winter, pull down the blinds, light the wood burner, and bask in its warming glow. Your furry friends are welcome to curl up with you on the comfortable sofas, one of which is a sofa bed for flexible sleeping options. Adjacent to the lounge area there’s a dining table large enough for four, and the rustic kitchen is a delightful space for holiday cooking, boasting a gorgeous retro-style fridge/freezer. The king-size bedroom is a calmly beautiful space with ample storage, an en-suite shower room and a door that leads out onto the deck that surrounds the property. This enclosed space is an ideal spot for both humans and pets to admire the lovely views in the fresh air.

You’re on the outskirts of the historic town of Ashbourne, with more than 200 listed buildings and a fabulous variety of independent shops. From here you can easily access the spectacular limestone landscapes of the southern White Peak. Head to Carsington Water (8 miles) for water sports and gentle walks, or Matlock Bath, the Victorian spa town (11.5 miles), and the incredible Heights of Abraham, which even includes a Waggy Tails Trail.

The Cowshed had everything to hand for a comfortable stay. It was well equipped and had a quirky and unique interior. Lovely cottage with very welcoming and helpful owners. Definitely the most dog friendly place we have stayed. Welcome pack was great and most appreciated. Dog treats were equally enjoyed. The property is ideally situated a short walk from Ashbourne on the edge of the Peak District. This is an ideal property to visit if you have dogs. Perfect dog friendly property for exploring this part of the Peak District. Lovely break away to The Cow Shed. Tesco delivery, amazing welcome hamper, thank you Victoria. Relaxed from the get go. Lots of walking paths and places to visit. Home for us is only 1hr away, but to be based at The Cow Shed allowed us to really explore the local area without heading for home. So much extra was provide, the location was wonderful,the comfort was the best & the dogs loved that they were welcome everywhere & not restricted to the floor ! We couldnt have been happier, we were so grateful to find the most beautiful bolt hole for our trip with three labradors. The cottage was so dog friendly it made our lives so much easier and less stressful, we loved it so much we are already looking at dates to return! Perfect placement for visiting the district too.

Our holiday cottage was exactly what we were looking for. The weather wasn't great but what we expected for early March. We have four dogs and the grounds were ideal for them. Wonderfully unique, we loved everything about this place. This is ideal for couples looking for a snug, warm and comfortable place to stay. Your doggie companion will feel right at home here as well. The hosts were very accommodating and provided a bountiful welcome pack to boot!

We had the perfect stay over New Year; it was so nice to be able to relax with the dog and not worry about where she went. The welcome hamper was beyond expectations, and fed us for almost the whole week! OThis is without doubt the most dog-friendly cottage we have stayed in. Our two dogs were made really welcome, even getting their own welcome pack including their own Christmas crackers. Victoria and Stewart are wonderful hosts (a very generous and thoughtful human welcome pack was also provided!) and are there when needed (but not otherwise!). The Old Cow Shed was the perfect getaway for a couples holiday, Victoria and Stewart were lovely and incredible hosts. The welcome basket was an incredible surprise, we really felt so treated here. We stayed at The Old Cow Shed on the week commencing October 23rd. We had a brilliant stay. On arrival at the cottage we were giving a welcome pack by the owner Vicky including Bread, Wine, Cheeses everything we needed. The property was equipped excellently, everything and more in the kitchen you could wish for and also very accommodating for the dRead moreogs. We enjoyed our stay, no need to worry about our dogs getting on the furniture, they had as much difficulty as us in deciding which sofa to occupy. The property was clean & quirky with lots of lovely touches, we could tell that the owners had gone to a lot of trouble to make us comfortable and were there if we needed them. We found the location very good, very close to Ashbourne (walking distance) and only 3 miles from beautiful Dovedale and Ilam Park so a good base for exploring the Peak District.
