A beautiful little gem in some of the most stunning countryside, offering a peaceful getaway in luxurious surroundings. You can enjoy breath-taking views on your doorstep, with a network of footpaths leading right from the cottage itself. Matlock is just over 2 miles away, nestled by the Derwent River, with an array of shops, cafes, pubs, and antique shops. In autumn, the Matlock Bath Illuminations with a firework display is a spectacular event just 3 miles away. Within an easy drive, discover the splendid Chatsworth House (10 miles), Haddon Hall (9 miles), and Crich Tramway Village (5 miles). You can also take advantage of the excellent walking routes around the Derwent Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Great British Car Journey sits on the same site as the White Peak Distillery, a little over 5 miles away, both offering tours and experiences throughout the year.

This is a single-storey self-contained apartment in a group of cottages converted from a former barn and workshop, in a hamlet of similar mellow-stone properties. You can appreciate the high standard that this cottage enjoys throughout, with an area that is perfect to decant your coat and shoes, before walking into the open-plan living room/kitchen, with its gorgeous décor. Here you find a fitted kitchen area, beautiful antique dining table, chairs and cupboard, and sumptuous soft seating in the lounge area along with a Smart TV for you to snuggle up and watch a film. There are views over the fields from your dining table, giving you full appreciation of the setting of the cottage. There is a pretty, spacious shower room, en route to the bedroom, where a king-size bed meets you in another well-appointed room that enjoys lovely colour accents and further views of the fields.

Outside, there are lots of picture-perfect places in the extremely well-maintained grounds. There is a lovely bistro table and chairs, patio and lawn to the front of your cottage, where you can enjoy your morning coffee and plan your day whilst embracing the peaceful surroundings. The cottage benefits from some shared facilities (but rarely used by other residents), including a well-equipped gym just up the path, bowling/putting green right outside your back door and a summer house for you to enjoy, with its babbling waterfall and lily pond adjacent and beautiful views. Surrounded by wildlife and rolling fields, you can completely immerse yourself in the tranquillity of this beautiful space.

I couldnt recommend Lower Holly Barn enough! It is an absolutely beautiful cottage in stunning surroundings. There is plenty to explore close by, or great as a base to explore further afield. It is so quiet and peaceful; a perfect place to go to get away, relax and recharge. I didnt want to leave, and cant wait to go back soon!

We had a most enjoyable week at Lower Holly Barn cottage. It was spotlessly clean, very well and tastefully appointed and located in a quiet and peaceful environment. Lynda, the owner was very friendly and welcoming and was a knowledgable source of helpful information about the area.
