Cromford (3 miles) is home to a world-famous bookshop, an art gallery, pubs and shops, and there are pretty walks along the Cromford Canal. Matlock Bath (6 miles) feels like a seaside resort with ice cream shops and takeaways, and the Heights of Abraham reachable by cable car. If outdoor pursuits are your thing, you can go walking, cycling, sailing, and birdwatching at Carsington Water (4 miles).
