This three-bedroom property forms part of a handsome stone villa set on the edge of the market town of Matlock, a popular base for exploring the Peak District and Derbyshire. The town has been a thriving tourist destination since it became an internationally famous spa town in the 19th century and boasts a range of independent shops as well as numerous pubs, cafes and restaurants. Hall Leys Park (0.5 miles) includes a boating lake, riverside walks and tennis courts or you can hop on a steam train to Rowsley, enjoying lunch or afternoon tea on board along the way. Take a cable car ride over the hilltop park, The Heights of Abraham (2 miles) or explore the woodland trails; your entry ticket also includes guided tour through illuminated show caves.

The lounge overlooks the garden and features sumptuous leather sofas set around a gas coal-effect fire. A separate dining room has a table seating six, and the modern kitchen has all you need should you wish to self-cater. There are two bedrooms on the first floor – one with a king size bed and views of Riber Castle, and the other, smaller room with a double bed – as well as a bathroom. A spacious bedroom on the top floor of the house features twin beds (zip and link, can be super king size on request), a TV and an en suite shower room.

Outside, a pretty courtyard terrace with a table and chairs is a lovely spot to enjoy some fresh air. A chiminea will keep you warm and you can sit out with a drink or light up the barbecue in the summer months.

This and the owners' part of the house are well separated, private, with their own entrances and garden areas.

Araglen was the cleanest and best equipped holiday home we have ever stayed in. The central location suited our needs to a tee, really enjoyed our stay.

Araglen is a beautiful, spotlessly clean property with everything you need in the house. The owners were so kind and helpful We would certainly look to book here again and would highly recommend the accommodation.

A very comfortable, high quality house which is within easy walking distance to Matlock town. Daniella and Paul made us feel very welcome with a lovely goody basket. They provided us with an extra fan due to the heat. Would highly recommend this property and would love to stay again.

A very comfortable house decorated and furnished to a very high standard. It's location is ideal for the town and local amenities.
