This elegant holiday retreat is in the delightful Derbyshire town of Matlock, on the eastern edge of the Peak District National Park. Sleeping six guests, the property is ideal for large families and groups of friends, with spacious rooms and an attractive courtyard for al fresco entertaining. You’ll be just 0.5 miles from the town centre, with its excellent array of pubs, cafes, and restaurants. Matlock is also a great base for walkers, with routes following the picturesque River Derwent and the Limestone Way.

The holiday home forms part of an attractive Victorian villa with its own, private entrance. The property boasts period features, high ceilings, and large windows framing views of the surrounding, rugged landscape. The delicate decor and pretty wallpapers perfectly complement the property’s original style. At the heart of the home is an elegant lounge overlooking the garden, with sumptuous leather seating set around a wood burner-effect gas fire and a TV/DVD. A bright and airy kitchen has everything needed for a self-catering break, and the separate dining room has a large table to seat everyone. There are two inviting bedrooms on this floor, along with a contemporary family bathroom. Heading upstairs, a spacious twin bedroom awaits with a stylish, en-suite shower room. Outside, relax in the sunshine in the enclosed courtyard garden, where you’ll find outdoor furniture, a BBQ, and chiminea. Private parking is available for three cars.

The historic spa town of Matlock, nestled in a scenic, limestone valley, has a network of pretty streets lined with an array of independent shops and boutiques to explore. The town also has a fantastic choice of cafes and restaurants, as does the neighbouring tourist town of Matlock Bath (2.5 miles). From Matlock Bath you can hop aboard the cable car to spend a relaxing afternoon pottering around the hilltop estate at Heights of Abraham. Further afield, day trips include Chatsworth House (8.5 miles) and the attractive market town of Bakewell (9 miles).

A wonderful week spent in a beautiful home. Friendly owners and extremely high level of cleanliness, extremely comfortable beds and very well-equipped kitchen. it was a real pleasure to return to after a day of exploring the area. A lovely private and well-maintained garden to rest and relax in at the end of the day after clocking up a fair few milRead morees walking was great. The welcome basket was a thoughtful and lovely touch. The downstairs cloakroom was a bonus also. Great location to explore this area of the Peak District. We ate Sunday lunch and also dinner during our stay at the Gate Inn in Tansley. The food was amazing and only a 5-minute drive away. Thank you for a great experience in visiting the area for the first time. Hope to return. Hide

Beautifully furnished and equipped. The owners have created a real 'home from home' feeling. Located within easy reach of town & amenities, but away from the busy A615.
