This romantic hideaway is set in a peaceful location 4.5 miles from Chesterfield, on the eastern edge of the Peak District National Park. The pet-friendly property welcomes two guests and has a roaring wood burner to snuggle next to after a day of adventure. The surrounding area is a paradise for walkers, with local routes leading to Linacre Reservoirs and Holmebrook Valley Country Park.

The rural retreat is arranged across one level and has a bright, studio-style layout. Calming tones in the paintwork and soft furnishings create a relaxed atmosphere, enhanced further by the fabulous countryside views. The main living space is an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with a tiled floor and a cosy wood burner set in a stone fireplace. Spend time here, preparing delicious dinners using local ingredients, which you can share together at the cute breakfast bar under the window. After dinner, retire to one of the reclining chairs with a glass of wine to read a few pages from your book or watch a film on the TV/DVD. When it’s time for bed, move through to the attractive king-size bedroom for a good night’s sleep. A refreshing bathroom completes the accommodation. Outside, sip a morning coffee on the enclosed gravel patio, surrounded by colourful wild flowers. Private parking is available for three cars.

Head into Chesterfield to admire the market town’s historic buildings, including the iconic crooked spire of the parish church. The town is a haven for shoppers, with the popular Market Hall and also a cobbled marketplace that hosts one of England’s largest open-air markets. You will also find museums and galleries within the town, along with a fantastic range of eateries. Enjoy a day trip to the picture-postcard Peak District town of Bakewell (7 miles), or nearby attractions such as Chatsworth House (7 miles) and the Heights of Abraham (12 miles).

I enjoyed my stay in Elm Croft very much. I was combining a short break with a visit to family in Sheffield. It was only 30 minutes in to Sheffield for me and the rest of the time Hollins was a great location to visit. The Royal Oak serves very nice home cooked food. There is a lovely walk around the Linacre reservoir with a footpath just down the Read moreroad. Everything in the cottage worked well and although small it is really well equipped and thoughtfully laid out. There is a boot box outside and a nice little garden around the back. Hide

We had a great stay at Elm Croft. The property was very well equipped with a big comfortable bed and a good shower. Great for access to the Peak District and two pubs within walking distance (we went to the Fox & Goose which is very friendly). Would definitly return if we came to the area again.

Lovely little cottage in a great location and some lovely walks right from the door. The local church is worth a visit. The Fox and Goose pub just 15 minutes walk away serves great food and beer, its a shame its only open from Thursday through Sunday.

An excellent rural location, peaceful whilst being within easy reach of places for picking up food. The cottage is well equipped, warm, with a comfortable bed, the host is friendly and had provided everything needed for the stay, and all at a very competitive price...

The cottage was very pleasant. There is an enclosed garden area but you need to go out of the cottage front door and through a gate on the side. The garden isn't accessible through the cottage and the road has a lot of fast moving traffic at times! The bed is enormous and so comfy. Chairs are comfortable too in the sitting room, TV was fine, smallRead more but we weren't there to watch TV. Everything you needed in the kitchen area. We thought the property is in a good location but we had difficulty seeing the entrance. Best to reverse in and drive out slowly. Might benefit from a mirror on the main road as my wife had to get out and check the traffic. We'd recommend this property with reservations for dog owners. Hide

Elm Croft was exactly what we were expecting from the advert. The owner gave helpful directions on how to find the cottage the day before our stay. The location was good for visiting the Peak District. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. The complimentary Granola Slices were a lovely surprise on our arrival.
