This picture-postcard cottage is located on the edge of the charming Peak District village of Youlgreave. Sleeping five guests, the pet-friendly property is perfect for families and friends who enjoy getting out and about in nature. The surrounding countryside is teeming with walking and cycling trails to explore, including the long-distance Limestone Way and White Peak Way. For shopping and eating out, you’ll be within easy reach of the bustling towns of Buxton (13 miles) and Bakewell (5 miles).

A steep, narrow stone footpath leads down to the characterful cottage. Inside, the inviting holiday home is decorated in a country-cottage style and a collection of antique-style furniture and original features bring personality and charm to each room. Unwind in the attractive lounge after a long walk, stretched out on the corner sofa under the beamed ceiling as you read a book or watch TV. Whip up tasty dinners in the separate kitchen and come together in the gorgeous dining room for memorable mealtimes as a group. Light the wood burner to create a cosy atmosphere on chilly evenings and retire to the comfortable sofa after dinner to chat about your day. Completing the ground floor is a handy utility room. Upstairs, via steep, cottage-style stairs, three bedrooms await, all of which are decorated in calming, neutral tones. Rounding off this floor is a refreshing family bathroom. Outside, soak up the glorious scenery from the south-facing patio, where you’ll find furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining. Please note, the cottage has steep, terraced gardens to the front, with rough paths, uneven stone steps, and low stone walls (handrails are provided). There is on-street parking subject to availability, and a pay and display car park 1.5 miles away.

Youlgreave is a picturesque village full of historic buildings, including the world’s smallest detached house! The village has some lovely local shops and friendly cafes, along with three cosy pubs. Enjoy walks from the village through Bradford Dale, through ancient woodland and along the river. The spa town of Buxton is well worth a visit during your stay. We had such a lovely stay at knoll cottage in Youlgreave. The village is beautiful and the situation of the cottage outstanding. Some reviews remarked negatively on the access to the cottage but for us (we have no mobility issues) this was perfect as it meant beautiful views and quiet seclusion with no road noise at all. We were here for a walking Read moreholiday and did not even get back in the car as there are fantastic all day walks with beautiful natural scenery and villages in every direction. The Youlgreave village shop was so well supplied we could shop for our meals there. We were very comfortable in the cottage, the garden is clearly loved and terrace has a lovely south facing view. As previously mentioned the cottage would not suit someone looking for a modern interior but we liked it very much Hide

Access to the cottage was down a very steep slope that my wife and I, both 78, found very difficult to walk down. We had to park on the side of the road to unload the car. Fortunately we had our daughter and grandchildren with us, otherwise we would never have managed to get our possessions into the cottage. After unloading, we had to park in a carRead more park about 200 yards away. Very inconvenient. Hide

I was disappointed to find a small concrete area for a garden. The dog felt trapped in this confined area and kept wanting to get out. Also we didnt expect a long steep path down to the cottage.

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Nice that it's positioned off the main road, but access is down a steep path so not suitable for everyone. Cottage was well equipped and clean, a very comfortable base for our week in the Peak District.

Had a lovely stay at Knoll cottage, very comfortable, with all amenities, great view out front and ideal for traveling around the Peaks. Within walking distance of local pubs and local store which stocked most essentials. Access to cottage from road is by an inclined path, but once you have transferred your belongings in it's not a problem.

An absolutely lovely area down a short (quite steep) path. Its like you are in the trees due to the position on the hill side and is fab to eat breakfast out in the patio. Good facilities close to pubs and village shop, Worth experiencing.
