This charming holiday home is in the elegant spa town of Buxton. Sleeping two guests, it’s the perfect bolthole for couples looking to explore Derbyshire’s historic towns and villages, as well as the wild and rugged landscape of the Peak District National Park. As you’d expect, the area is awash with stunning walking routes to explore, from the dizzying heights of Kinder Scout (13.5 miles) to the waterside paths at Tittesworth Reservoir (12 miles).

The 16th-century stone cottage beautifully blends period features with contemporary decor and homely touches. The welcoming lounge/diner offers a sumptuous sofa to snuggle up on after a long walk and a roaring wood burner for chilly winter’s nights. Unwind here, watching TV, reading a book from the selection provided, or sharing a dinner for two at the cute table by the window. The separate, contemporary kitchen has gorgeous wooden worktops, pastel-coloured tiles, and all the equipment needed to whip up delicious meals. Upstairs, discover a spacious bedroom with a king bed and a chaise longue. Rounding off the cottage is a fabulous bathroom with an indulgent roll-top bath. A leafy patio area with a bistro set at the front of the cottage is a delightful spot for a morning coffee and you’ll also find a shared courtyard to the rear with secure bike storage. There is private parking for one car, with additional on-street parking available on the surrounding roads.

A 0.5-mile stroll brings you to the centre of Buxton and its fantastic array of independent shops and eateries. The town also has a vibrant arts scene – be sure to check the calendar of events to see what’s on during your stay. Enjoy relaxing strolls through the colourful public gardens, or perhaps spend a tranquil afternoon at one of the town’s famous spas. Days out from the cottage include the world-famous show caves and caverns in Castleton (10.5 miles) and the spectacular stately home and gardens at Chatsworth House (15.5 miles).

Lovely well looked after accommodation for two. It was lovely to arrive to a chilled bottle of wine and the sponge cake. Buxton was a perfect spot, lots of pubs and restaurants in the town. The Opera House is amazing. Good area for walking.

We loved our stay at Cherry Tree cottage, it is centrally located in Buxton so easy to walk into the town. It is a tight parking space but on street parking is possible for bigger cars. For trips out without using a car the bus stop is very close for Bakewell etc. The cottage was warm and cosy and well equipped overall a lovely place to stay when eRead morexploring the Peak District. This cottage is very well presented with efficient heating and much better equipped than many cottages we have rented. Although on a residential street there was very little noise or traffic to disturb our peace. We managed several walks straight from the cottage and it was handy to have everything we needed within a few minutes walking distance-Read more shops, restaurants, take aways, train station. Not much outside space but we were there during the winter so this wasn't an issue. Hide
