An intriguing holiday home with a fascinating past, this Derbyshire cottage has been beautifully converted from a former toll bar property into a sumptuous place to stay. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom retreat is situated at Grangemill, 1 mile from Aldwark, in the southern fringes of the picturesque Peak District. Set out from here to explore the magnificent landscapes of the national park or head 4 miles to Carsington Water to go fishing, try water sports or hire bicycles. Venture into Matlock, 5 miles away, to browse in its shops, dine out or purchase local produce to prepare back at the cottage. Head into Bakewell, 8 miles away, to wander its charming streets as well, and perhaps sit down to a serving of its celebrated pudding.
Enter the cottage to find inviting accommodation that has been designed with your comfort in mind. The lounge, with its plump sofas and chairs is the perfect place to relax together in front of a good film after your days out. A dining area adjoins the beautifully fitted, country kitchen via a stone archway and there is a useful utility room as well. Also downstairs is a separate WC and, through an arched doorway, a beautiful super-king-size bedroom. One staircase leads up from this bedroom to a single bedroom, with an en-suite shower room, while another staircase goes up from the living room to a bedroom with a 4' double bed and an en-suite shower room. There is some limited head-height in the first-floor bedrooms.
The large patio at this property is the perfect place to unwind during the summer months. Here guests can light the barbecue, dine in the fresh air and bask in the sunshine. There is also a lawn.
