This charming stone cottage is hidden in the garden of the owners' 18th-century house and has superb views down the Derwent Valley. A pub is less than 300 metres away and the town centre is a 0.5-walk downhill. Matlock has been a thriving tourist destination since Victorian times, when visitors used to flock to the many spa hotels. It offers a range of independent shops as well as numerous pubs, cafes and restaurants. Matlock Bath, set in a limestone gorge about 1 mile from the town centre, has amusement arcades, an aquarium and a photographic museum. For a fun day out, Crich Tramway Museum and Village (6 miles) features a recreated period village with vintage trams taking visitors out into the countryside and back. The fascinating Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site (10 miles) preserves a series of mill complexes and watercourses from the times of the Industrial Revolution.
This ground floor property is all on one level, with one bedroom separated from the main part of the cottage, accessed just along the patio (with no interconnecting door). The lounge features a comfortable sofa and armchair set around a cosy wood burner and has patio doors opening out onto the terrace. There’s an adjoining dining area next to a small kitchen area equipped with all the mod-cons you need to self-cater, and a washing machine and freezer are located in the garage. One bedroom has a king size zip-and-link bed that can be turned into twin beds on request, and next to it is a bathroom. The second, spacious bedroom has its own entrance from the terrace. It features a king size zip-and-link bed, as well as a sitting area with a TV, tea and coffee-making facilities, and a shower room.
The furnished patio area is a lovely place to relax with a drink while you gaze at the lovely views.
