An exquisite stone cottage at the centre of the Peak District village of Youlgreave, this gorgeous retreat makes a lovely base within the National Park. Sleeping four guests, and offering dog-friendly accommodation, the two-bedroom hideaway is in a perfect position for the shops and pubs of the village and is also just 3.5 miles from bustling Bakewell known, of course, for its celebrated pudding. From the cottage, find you are also just 3 miles from spectacular Haddon Hall, with its impressive medieval grounds, and 7 miles from Chatsworth House, where you can tour the stately home, wander the parkland and take children to the adventure playground. The historical landmark of Arbor Low Stone Circle is also just 3.5 miles away.

Wander inside to find welcoming rooms that have been carefully furnished in keeping with the character and age of the cottage. The lounge, with its built-in shelving, has a Chesterfield sofa and comfortable chairs to relax in as the wood burner glows and you watch TV or listen to music. The kitchen diner is fitted out to enable you to whip up tasty dishes for your party then sit down to eat together at the table. Cosy cottage right in the middle of Youlgrave. We travelled with a 4 and 6 year old. The cottage was perfect for us. It was well equipped with comfortable beds and a modern kitchen. The location was excellent with pubs, shops in the village. There was a large park for the children and lots of lovely walks from the house, or a short drive awayRead more. Hide

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the location was excellent to explore The Peak District. Very efficient heating meant that that house was warm and cosy. The village has all the amenities you may need with excellent food provided by the local hotel. Would recommend.

The cottage was in a great location for exploring the areas we wanted to visit. The bed was extremely comfortable and we enjoyed our 5 night stay. The welcome lemon drizzle cake was very lovely. As a couple, the cottage was a good size for a short break. Just a couple of things that could be improved - no initial logs provided for wood burner as ouRead moretlined in details, shower was temperamental re temp and water flow (just used bath instead) and parking over the Bank Holiday weekend was an issue. This cottage was amazing. It was so well kitted out compared to most holiday cottages whilst keeping the feel of the cottage. The only issue was parking but that comes with being in a small village. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

The cottage was really well presented and very thoughtfully equipped which we really appreciated. However the shower did not really work as could not keep a consistent temperature. It was either scalding hot or freezing cold and seemed to swing between the two without any middle ground. The corkscrew was broken and there was not a bottle opener Read moreat the property - we purchased one at the local shop and left for future occupants whilst you may consider a replacement. Also the lightbulb in the fridge no longer worked. Otherwise a lovely cottage in a great area. Hide

The location was perfect with choice of 3 pubs depending on personal choice and budget. Bulls Head was our preference you need to book fantastic food and service. The only improvement we would suggest is a Smart TV as channels limited with interference so if its a cold wet night you could watch a film of choice.

The main draw back is the lack of dedicated parking - my car was even scratched when parked outside the house (nearest car to the corner, but still away from the bend!)

A lovely characterful cottage in a great location, with very useful books on local walks etc. Very low ceiling on the stairs, so take care!
