Spend days exploring the stunning Peak District National Park before heading back to this pretty and characterful retreat close to Chesterfield. This quaint little bolthole set on a working farm is perfect for a couple seeking the perfect combination of tranquillity and fun-fuelled adventure.

This stone-built cottage is in a quiet lane surrounded by beautiful countryside. Head inside and find yourself in the charming lounge/diner. Set underneath a beamed ceiling, you can get cosy on the sofa, fire up the flame-effect electric fire, and watch movies on the TV and DVD player. The dining table sits in front of a picture window which makes the very best of the far-reaching valley views. Take the door through to the stylish kitchen which has plenty of space for cooking up tasty dinners and filling breakfasts to prepare yourself for the day. When you are ready for some shut-eye, head into the bedroom and curl up in the sumptuous king-size bed. Adjacent, is a bathroom with a large corner shower. Outside, there is a spacious garden with a vast lawn space and a patio area. It is furnished with a seating set so you can dine alfresco and sip on your favourite evening tipples while admiring the vistas. Parking for two cars is available right outside the property.

The village of Holymoorside has a handy shop and two charming country pubs, just 0.5 miles away from the property. For further amenities head into the historic town of Chesterfield (5 miles) with its cobbled marketplace and abundance of restaurants offering a variety of choice. Spend a day at Chatsworth House (7 miles) or Hardwick Hall (12 miles), or simply enjoy the undulating Peak District countryside and climb Birchen or Gardom’s Edge (6 miles).

Cara is a comfortable cottage in a great location. Well equipped and in the perfect spot for exploring the Peak District. It gave us the ideal base for our week outside Chesterfield.

A perfect little cottage. Set on a working dairy farm in a fairly quiet location, you get some farm sounds and smells but they do not spoil the stay. Our stay was first class and if we could give Deborah and John a 10 star plus then we would. We had a power cut one evening and John kept us informed about when it was expected to be back on also John loaned us a portable gas stove to allow us to have a hot drink. This is an exceptional holiday let. Spacious and really well equipped, with a spectacular view. Perfectly clean, well decorated, The owners are very friendly and very helpful. We had a very lovely week in Cara cottage. The cottage was well equipped, everything we needed was there. John, the host, welcomed us and gave us tips about the environment. For example what is the best time to visit Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. We liked the welcome package, very useful.

Cara is an excellent cottage - very comfortable, well thought out accommodation with a delightful view from the patio. The owners were most helpful.
