A charming, 18th-century cottage, this renovated retreat captures magical views out over Bradford Dale from every window. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom hideaway is in a simply idyllic position in the scenic village of Youlgreave. Head out from here to potter in the village shops or dine out in its pubs. Walk through Bradford Dale from the doorstep too, looking out for kingfishers and herons in its trout pools. Venture 8 miles into Matlock to have an afternoon out in the town, with its many shops, cafes and tea rooms. Head 3.5 miles into Bakewell to wander its delightful streets and to sample a serving of its famous pudding. Visit Haddon Hall, with its medieval gardens, 3 miles away.

Enter this lovely cottage to find accommodation with a wealth of character and warmth. The lounge has a tiled floor, comfortable seating and a wood burner to fire up during the autumn and winter as you settle down to a film or play some music. Perfectly situated cottage for us as we are walkers. Warm and quiet. We appreciated the wine but left it for the next occupants. We parked our car near the river as it was a steep hill and was tricky for farm traffic. Friendly spider living in the shower! The porch door was tricky on the last day as we had heavy rain then but otherwise great walkinRead moreg weather. Would stay again. Hide

Lower Ivy is a charming cottage very well situated in Youlsgreave. It is very comfortable and cosy, with lovely views and a pretty garden to sit in after longs walks through the local fields and Dales. The village has nice shops and places to eat. Thank you for the welcome and the wine! We would definitely consider coming again.

We felt there needed to be more information at the booking stage about the real difficulty with parking at this property. The climb up the hill from the recommended parking area would have been a significant problem if we had been even a year or two older - or if the weather had been bad throughout our stay.
