This incredible barn conversion is the perfect setting for a get-together of extended family or two families holidaying together. It is set on a hillside above Chinley, a large village surrounded by dramatic Dark Peak countryside and acres of moorland. A 0.5-mile stroll will take you into the village, which has an inn and some local shops, and walks and cycle ways radiate from the cottage. The town of Castleton, home to the famous Derbyshire Blue John stone and the imposing ruins of Peveril Castle, is 9 miles away, and the spa town of Buxton, renowned for its thermal springs and exquisite opera house, is 8 miles away.

The ground floor has underfloor heating throughout. The lovely lounge features a beamed ceiling, oak flooring and comfortable sofas arranged around the TV, as well as a large dining table and chairs for sociable meals. There’s also a separate small sitting/games room with pool table, table tennis, table football and TV with Wii games console. The superb kitchen has all you need to cook up a feast, and a utility room and a shower room are also located on the ground floor. A magnificent spiral staircase leads to the first floor, where you’ll find a master king size bedroom with en suite shower room, a twin bedroom, a double bedroom with an en suite shower room, a family bedroom with a double and single bed, and a bathroom with a bath and a separate shower cubicle.

The property has a lawned garden and a flagged patio with outdoor furniture and a firepit/barbecue. It’s a lovely space for children to let off steam while the adults relax.

We had a lovely long weekend at Churn Barn. It is an excellent place for a large family reunion. There are walks right from the barn up onto the hills and the barn is a very comfortable place to stay. We loved it. Chinley is a nice village with some great pubs and restaurants and is a pleasant walk down the hill.
