A charming character cottage studded at the heart of the Peak District, this is an excellent choice for couples and families with older children seeking outdoor adventures. The village of Tideswell is a wonderful vantage point for exploring the limestone uplands on the cusp of Buxton (7.5 miles), offering dramatic views, attractive buildings and an impressive church that’s renowned for its brasses and wood carvings. Foodies will be well versed with this location thanks to the popular annual food festival, but there are plenty of cafes and pubs too. Tideswell Dale Nature Reserve is 4 miles out of town and has a sculpture trail and tranquil spots to pause for a picnic, and the surrounding countryside is a treat to explore if you are looking for a taste of rural Derbyshire.

Enter to discover a cosy interior that’s characterised by timber-beamed ceilings, pine-stripped floors and comfortable furniture, creating a delightful ambience for spending quality time together. Light the wood burner in the lounge and snuggle up to watch a DVD of an evening. There is a compact yet well-equipped kitchen for preparing light suppers and hearty breakfasts, best enjoyed in the bright dining room. Refresh yourself after a busy day with a long soak in the bathroom, opting for a soak or a shower. There are two bedrooms to choose from; take your pick of a pretty double bedroom or a cheerful bunk bedroom.

Outside, steep steps lead up to the secluded terraced gardens, encircled by traditional stone walls and with garden furniture for al fresco dining and drinks in the sunshine.

Very nice and cosy cottage, and location couldnt have been better. The owner was helpful, when we needed an electrician they were there within an hour. Could walk to nearest pub in less than a minute, always a bonus. There were only two downsides, the hoover wasnt very good and made the place smell of dogs, and there were no doors downstairs. I aRead moressume there couldnt have been a one into the lounge because of a step, into the conservatory a sliding door would be good. Our dog sleeps downstairs at home, so if your dog sleeps upstairs its not an issue. They are the only moans, but apart from that it was perfect for us, and we will hopefully be back next year. Hide

Forget me not cottage was lovely place to stay; located right in the village; we parked v close. Tiny garden just fine for our mini schnauzer. Lots of hot water for showers and side entrance very useful to dry dog off and remove muddy boots and hand jackets etc. Comfy sofa and chairs too.

The cottage was well equipped, especially with kitchen utensils and the information folder was thorough. Also, the TV / DVD were easy to use and being able to access catch up programmes through BBCi player etc. meant we had more choice than at previous cottages.

The cottage was very well equipped with everything you could need, it was comfortable and in a lovely quiet location. The enclosed garden was ideal for our dog. The village of Tideswell was lovely and had several good pubs and cafes all within easy reach. I would definitely book again at this cottage.

As with everything in life, there are little things that can be improved, like the "Rope hand rail" on the stairs, l felt was in breach of health and safety, but overall we enjoyed our stay at the cottage

Beautiful cottage in a lovely location. Very well equipped with everything we could possibly need. Only gripes were the towels smelled damp and there was toast crumbs all over the kitchen side when we arrived. A great stay though we would definitely stay there again.
