Escape with your special someone for a getaway to remember in this quaint, single-storey barn conversion nestled on a pretty complex of properties outside the village of Brassington. Sleeping two people in one bedroom, it’s the ideal hideaway for romantic couples who are yearning for a stylish bolthole to call home while they explore the Derbyshire Dales together. Pull on your hiking boots and head off to take in the views from Harboro Rocks, and in the evening, come home to fire up the BBQ on the cottage’s patio.

Pull into your private parking space and step inside this lovely cottage and you’ll discover a sumptuous open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with beautiful flagstone floors and plenty of natural wood design touches. Make yourself at home in front of the Smart TV in the lounge area before you head to the smart kitchen/dining area to rustle up a romantic meal. Enjoy dinner at the unique, church pew-style dining area. Alternatively, step out onto the pretty patio to the front of the cottage to fire up the BBQ for an al fresco feast. Afterwards, crack open a bottle of wine and wait for the stars to come out, or head back to the lounge area to snuggle on the sofa. When the day is done, retire to the king-size bedroom. In the morning, kick off your day with a refreshing shower in the shower room.

Explore Minninglow (4 miles), which sits within the Peak District National Park, and you’ll discover a collection of ancient tombs on a hill top with a distinctive double ring of beech trees. Alternatively, head into the attractive market town of Matlock (6 miles) to browse the independent shops, enjoy a romantic cruise on Leys Park’s boating lake, and indulge in a pint or two in one of the cosy pubs.

Lovely cottage, every piece of cooking utensils ever required. Put out that we only had enough bedding and sheets for one week when our holiday was for two. Could not get through on the phone to speak to anyone about it. Disappointed with welcome pack compared to other cottages.

An excellent cottage for two, well equipped and definitely off grid. It has all mod cons and is very cosy. The bed is huge (double queen) and very comfortable, something that is a problem with many rentals - not here. To get away from the world, it is ideal and the sky is dark so skywatching is ideal provided it is warm and clear. One of the best Read morewe have stayed in. Hide
