Perched on the hillside above the picturesque Amber Valley, this bijou couple’s bolthole makes a beautiful base from which to explore the Peak District. Pet-friendly, it has a welcoming open-plan living space, a beautiful gallery bedroom and a patio-style outdoor area, plus private parking so you can enjoy the surrounding countryside at your leisure.
Big skies and far-reaching views await at this charming stone cottage – brimming with kerb appeal, it sits in an elevated position on the edge of Ashover. Step inside and you’ll find an open-plan lounge/diner where you can snuggle on the sofa and stream your favourite programmes on the Smart TV. A chic dining suite is conveniently positioned close to the entrance to the contemporary kitchen which has all the essentials for fuss-free self-catering, plus a door onto the outside space. When you’re ready to retire for the night, the gallery bedroom upstairs is gorgeous, with sloping ceilings, a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom. Drink in those divine valley views as you settle on the love seat at the front of the property; less than half a mile downhill Ashover has a choice of friendly inns if you fancy a stroll.
Ashover lies in the valley between Chesterfield (7.5 miles) and Matlock (4.5 miles). Travel the Dale Road between the latter and Matlock Bath and cable cars will transport you to the Heights of Abraham hilltop park, or venture further onto bustling Bakewell (11.5 miles), birthplace of the famous pudding. For a journey back in time, Crich Tramway Village (7 miles) offers scenic rides, a period village scene, woodland walks and a sculpture trail. The beautiful gardens of Chatsworth House, 12 miles away, are another must-see.
