An attractive, stone cottage set in tranquil surroundings between Brassington and Wirksworth, this enticing retreat is perfect for anyone who loves getting out and about in nature. Sleeping four guests, and offering dog-friendly accommodation, the two-bedroom abode is set on the High Peak Trail, 1.5 miles from the Peak District National Park. Also lace up your walking boots and visit Hopton Quarry Nature Reserve or Harboro Rocks, a dolomite, limestone hill with picturesque views, both of which are 1 mile away. Venture into Wirksworth, 2.5 miles from the cottage, to potter in its shops and to dine out. While you are here, see the StarDisc, a huge black granite sculpture and star chart, which mirrors the northern hemisphere’s night sky.
Park 160 metres from the cottage then use the trolley provided to wheel your luggage to the front door. Let yourselves in to find the heart of the house is its beautiful, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with underfloor heating, a stone floor and a beamed ceiling. Carefully chosen pieces of furniture and furnishings give the lounge and dining space a comfortable and welcoming feel. There is a wood burner in here to light on chilly days as you watch TV or play games together and a table for gathering around for lively meals. The kitchen area is also a beautiful space. This room has a country cottage style and everything you might need to cater for your party during your stay. Also downstairs is a WC, plus a utility room, with a door on to the garden. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, a double and a king-size: each of these is beautifully finished and captures the scenic outlook through leaded windows. The family shower room is also upstairs.
The generous garden is a lovely place to sit and soak up the serenity of the surroundings. There is a bench out here for taking in the view and a patio area, with furniture, where you can have morning coffee or cook outside on the barbecue on warm evenings. There is also a handy outdoor tap for rinsing off muddy paws, bikes and boots.
