Full of charm, this detached cottage is in a great location for walks in the Peak District, visits to local attractions and evenings in the nearby pubs and restaurants. Welcoming both children and pets, it has a superb garden where you can dine alfresco and a lounge with an inviting stove where everyone can gather for sociable evenings.
Cosy, comfortable and quiet, this is a wonderful retreat at any time of the year. Stroll along the uneven paving through the garden and up the six stone steps to the front door. If you’re bringing little ones, they’re bound to head straight for the first-floor playroom, where there’s a selection of books and board games. Adults can settle on the sofas around the multi-fuel stove in the lounge, where soft colours create a tranquil feel. Step through to the kitchen and you’ll find a light and elegant space with all the equipment you’ll need to conjure up delicious meals. Serve them up in the atmospheric dining room, warmed by a coal-effect gas fire. There’s a WC on the ground floor, while the family bathroom is on the first floor, shared by the three beautifully decorated bedrooms. Outside, there’s dining furniture set up among the attractive trees, shrubs and borders, as well as a lockable greenhouse in which you can store bikes. The property also offers off-road parking for one car.
The cottage is in the pretty village of Baslow, which boasts a selection of shops, pubs and eateries and is located close to some of the Dark Peaks’ most dramatic scenery. Explore the famous gritstone edges of Baslow, Curbar and Froggatt, all of which have incredible views, or try the Derwent Valley Heritage Trail, part of which runs through the village. Historic Chatsworth House is only 2.5 miles away.
