Hide away in this gorgeous, Derbyshire stone cottage, right at the heart of the beautiful Peak District. Sleeping just two guests, it makes an idyllic retreat for couples seeking a romantic getaway within picturesque, natural surroundings. Situated in Warslow, 13 miles from Buxton and 7.5 miles from Leek, the exquisite, former farmworker’s cottage comes with a wood burner to snuggle up beside on winter evenings and a lovely garden for summer days.
Enter the charming bolthole, leaving your walking boots just inside the door, to find yourselves in the welcoming, beamed lounge. Light the wood burner in here during the chillier months and settle back on the plump sofa with your books or in front of your favourite programme on TV. Amble through to the kitchen/diner to make a cup of tea to enjoy with a chunk of the freshly baked Derbyshire Thor cake you bought on your trip out. Perch up at the breakfast bar or carry it out through the kitchen door so you can sit in the sunshine. The kitchen, which features exposed stonework, encompasses all the equipment you will need to help you cater for the two of you during your stay. When you are ready to turn in for the night, climb the stairs to your relaxing king-size bedroom on the first floor. A generous shower room is also at this level. Unwind out in the superb garden at every opportunity. Dine out here and take in the magnificent views. There is private parking at the cottage.
Head 4.5 miles from the cottage to follow the National Trust’s 10-mile Manifold Valley Walk, offering you views of Thor’s Cave, the River Manifold, Dovedale and Ilam Park. Dramatic Thor’s Cave, 3.5 miles from the cottage, is an impressive natural limestone cavern that the especially intrepid can explore.
