A character cottage, bursting with charm, nestled in the heart of the beautiful village of Tideswell. The pretty and distinctly Derbyshire village sits in the heart of the White Peak. Known for its dramatic scenery; cut among limestone, it is in an area of outstanding beauty. The village itself was built in the 14th century and boasts great local pubs, two restaurants, cafes, fish and chip shops, and sandwich shops, as well as a butcher, baker, and greengrocer. It is surrounded by must-visit towns. Excellent walking routes with rugged peaks are found to the north, gentle hills and dales to the south and Millers Dale (4 miles). Eyam, with its eery and fascinating history, being “The Plague Village” sits just 5 miles to the East of Tideswell. Chatsworth House, Mam Tor and Castleton are both within 11 miles and the popular spa town of Buxton is an 8-mile trip.
Walking into the property itself, you enter from the pretty courtyard, complete with climbing roses, welcoming you to this 17th-century quintessentially Derbyshire Cottage. Entering a cosy and characterful sitting room, complete with a wood burner for those ambient evenings in, original oak beams and warm inviting colours, you immediately feel welcome. Although not immediately obvious, the limestone walls speak of the White Peak district that this cottage sits in, and is another feature of this wonderfully preserved part of Derbyshire history. There is a dining table, offering soft high-back chairs, perfect for planning your day’s adventures or gathering for your evening meals. The well-equipped kitchen leads off from the dining area and makes for a comfortable, ambient space. Upstairs you are met with well-appointed bedrooms, one room offering you a huge super-king bed, and the other a twin room. There are some books that are in the main bedroom and a family shower room on this floor.
Outside, nestled between the cottages is a shared courtyard that is a wonderful sun trap in the right weather, surrounded with roses and potted trees and plants, you have your own dining table and chairs, just set outside of the cottage itself.
