Settle back into a relaxing stay at this character-laden cottage at the heart of the Peak District. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom retreat dates back to the 17th century and still presents a wealth of original features. Set in the picturesque village of Tideswell, 7.5 miles from Buxton, it is surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of the White Peak. Inside, there is a wood burner to keep you cosy during the winter months, while for the summer, there is a shared courtyard for unwinding in the fresh air.
Open the wooden front door to the cottage and find yourselves in a welcoming, beamed lounge/diner. This is where you can fire up the wood burner, which is set in a stone inglenook fireplace, and sink back into the comfortable seating with a novel you have chosen from the shelves upstairs. Alternatively, enjoy your favourite programme on the TV or a film via the DVD player. The table in here is the perfect place to gather for your holiday meals. The modern kitchen, which has been equipped with everything you are likely to need during your stay, is adjacent. As the sun goes down and bedtime calls, climb the stairs to the first floor. Here, you will find a lovely king-size room and a twin. There is also a family shower room here. When the weather is good, have morning coffee or even dinner out in the stone courtyard, where climbing roses adorn the walls. Parking here is in the street, subject to availability.
Explore Tideswell, with its shops and eateries. Venture into Buxton to enjoy a wider range of outlets and to see the famous opera house and Pavilion Gardens. The Chee Dale Stepping Stones, which cross the River Wye, are 6 miles away. Here, you can follow a picturesque, 3-mile walk.
