Up to four guests can stay in this countryside escape with far-reaching views of the Peak District National Park from the garden. This quirky property with a contemporary feel throughout is perfect for a nature-filled break in the East Midlands while still having plenty of town amenities on your doorstep.

Inside this homely bolthole is a blue, wooden and black kitchen/diner with a ‘U’-shaped fitted kitchen unit. There’s plenty of surface space for cooking a hearty homemade meal, which you can enjoy at the round, chic dining table for four. Downstairs from here is a cosy twin room plus a bathroom with a shower over the bath. Climb a few steps up from the kitchen and you’ll reach a lounge area with a mezzanine-style bedroom above it. Tones of blue, white and grey fill the space with wooden furnishings and a high, vaulted ceiling. Colourful, contemporary hanging lights brighten the lounge area with a comfortable sofa and an armchair in front of the TV and a woodburner-effect electric fire. Stairs lead to the bedroom, which features a double bed and an armchair by the low window. Outside is a garden with a lawn, patio and furniture. There is private parking for three cars

Set in the spa town of Buxton, you won’t have to go far to visit the opera house, arts centre, cinema or restaurants (0.5 miles). Explore the surrounding historical landmarks like the Ruin of Errwood Hall (4.5 miles) and Solomon’s Temple (2.5 miles). Disappear into the underground limestone caves of Poole’s Cavern (1 mile) or take a picnic to Errwood Reservoir (4 miles). Put on your walking boots and follow trails through the Three Shires Head hiking area (6 miles) or Kinder Scout (18 miles).

Great cottage in a wonderful environment. Our second visit and hopefully it won't be our last. Newly decorated and fully refurnished. Hosts go the extra mile to ensure your visit is trouble-free and comfortable. Cannot recommend more highly.
