Discover the beautiful town of Bakewell from this handsome cottage at the heart of the town. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom hideaway has been finished to provide sumptuous accommodation, complete with a crackling wood burner. Outside, there is a courtyard where you can enjoy a cup of tea and Derbyshire oatcake after your latest trip out on a fine afternoon.
Enter the stone cottage via the porch and wander through to the impressive lounge. With an opulent style, this centres on an elegant feature wall and fireplace, which has been fitted with a wood burner. Set this crackling on crisp autumn days, then sink into deep sofas with your books or the Smart TV playing your favourite programme. Amble on through, past the attractive spiral staircase, to find the dining space, where you can congregate for meals or play a game. Beyond this is your kitchen, where you unpack all the fresh Derbyshire delicacies you have sourced in town. At the end of each superb day away, carefully climb the spiral staircase to the first floor of the cottage. Here you will find a king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room, plus a twin. The family bathroom is also at this level. While away balmy summer evenings out in the enclosed courtyard as you share a bottle of chilled white wine. There is on-street permit parking for one car, with extra space in public car parks, subject to availability.
Step straight out to explore the historic stone town on foot, pausing to sample its renowned pudding in an eatery as you go. Plan a day trip to Buxton, 12.5 miles away, as well, and discover Poole’s Cavern while you are here. Magnificent Haddon Hall is just 2 miles from the cottage and is also well worth a visit.
