This beautiful period property is in the heart of the Derbyshire village of Matlock Bath, on the edge of the Peak District National Park. The pet-friendly riverside retreat welcomes up to 16 guests and is ideal for large family gatherings and holidays with friends. You’ll be just 300 metres from the bustling village centre and nearby days out include Chatsworth House (9 miles) and Crich Tramway Village (6 miles).

The Georgian townhouse boasts three spacious floors, with high ceilings and a myriad of original features. The ground floor is home to a large dining room where you can host dinner parties overlooking the river, and there’s a kitchen with all the equipment needed to cater for a large group. In the evenings, come together in the impressive lounge to stretch out on the sumptuous sofas and chat about your day, play boardgames, or enjoy a movie night around the Smart TV. Completing this level is a cloakroom with space to store coats and boots. On the first floor you’ll find four light and airy bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite shower room. There’s also a large family bathroom on this level. The remaining bedrooms – a king-size and two triples – are on the second floor. The king-size bedroom has an en-suite shower room, and the triple rooms share a contemporary bathroom. Completing this floor is a welcoming breakfast kitchen with a table and chairs, providing an alternative dining spot in the mornings. The property has a choice of outdoor spaces, including a delightful seating area to the front with views of the river. To the rear is a lower courtyard accessed via the kitchen, and an enclosed, raised garden with a patio and furniture for al fresco dining. Private parking is available for five cars.

Matlock Bath is a vibrant village, with a good range of independent boutiques and eateries, along with quirky amusement arcades and gift shops, giving it a slight seaside vibe. Head down to the leafy riverside promenade for a relaxing walk along the water, before grabbing a bite to eat in one of the friendly cafes.

This is a lovely house that really suits a large group that likes activities rather than just a quiet country stay. Matlock Bath has lots of entertainment (pubs, restaurants, amusement arcades, shops) though not a food shop (Matlock Sainsbury's is not far though). We also had some excellent walks nearby, and some of our party visited the nearby hRead moreistoric mills, Alton Towers and Chatsworth House. Don't be put off by the fact that the house is on the main road: the double glazing is very effective, and the passing traffic barely intruded. The house was well appointed, and cleanliness and comfort were excellent. All our party of 10 of varying ages plus 2 dogs had a great time. Hide
