This stone-built cottage in the heart of Winster places you in one of the Peak District’s most charming and historic villages. From the doorstep, it’s easy to wander through this conservation village, where around 70 listed buildings, narrow ginnels and the 17th-century Market House create a wonderfully atmospheric setting. The two-bedroom home is ideal for couples and small families who love fresh air and countryside. Walkers will be satisfied, with routes from your front door leading straight out towards Elton, Birchover and Youlgreave. Wide valley views, rocky outcrops and peaceful rural lanes are all to be expected here.
You’ll enter the cottage straight into the bright kitchen-diner, featuring a dining table for four and an extended preparation area for cooking together. The inviting lounge gives you a cosy place to unwind, with soft seating and a glowing wood burner where you can watch a film on the Smart TV. Head upstairs to find a spacious super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom (can be a twin on prior request) plus a small double bedroom. After a day in the fresh air, why not have an indulgent soak in the wood-panelled bathroom, which has both a luxurious freestanding bath and a walk-in shower. Outside, dine alfresco and sip coffee with a view in the enclosed private patio garden. There is a parking space for one car, with additional on-street parking outside if needed.
You’ll have plenty of Peak District destinations within easy reach – walkers can join sections of the Limestone Way or explore a variety of circular routes nearby. Matlock (5 miles) and Matlock Bath (6 miles) offer riverside strolls, family-friendly attractions and the famous cable cars at the Heights of Abraham. At Chatsworth House (9 miles), explore its impressive art collections, woodland trails and landscaped gardens. Head to Bakewell (6 miles) for riverside wanders, independent shops and of course a slice or two of the town’s famous Bakewell pudding.
