Perched on a peaceful hillside in the village of Idridgehay, this beautiful one-bedroom lodge benefits from sweeping views of surrounding Derbyshire countryside. It’s in a fantastic location right on the edge of the Peaks, offering a relaxing setting for couples and solo travellers. Walkers will be spoilt for choice here, with public footpaths leading directly from the property. Nearby Wirksworth (3 miles) is known for its independent shops, cafés and lively arts scene, while Belper (4 miles) sits within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site and offers scenic riverside walks.

Inside, the single-storey lodge has a bright and welcoming open-plan living space with large windows framing uninterrupted hillside and valley views. French doors open straight onto the garden so you can feel the fresh air on warm days. Relax in front of the Smart TV in the comfortable lounge area and sit down at the dining table for shared meals with a view. A well-equipped kitchen makes self-catered stays easy, while the king-size bedroom is styled in calming tones with soft furnishings for a restful and romantic retreat. You’ll also have an en-suite shower room. Outside, spend quality time together in the large garden, with a furnished patio for sitting with a morning coffee or unwinding with a glass of wine at sunset. Wildlife lovers may spot buzzards, red kites and other native birds, and thanks to low light pollution the setting is also ideal for stargazing on clear nights. Private parking for up to two cars is available next to the lodge. Please note: the property does not accept infants.

When it’s time to leave your bolthole, head to Carsington Water (6 miles) for scenic walking and cycling routes along with excellent wildlife watching opportunities. Matlock (7 miles) and nearby Matlock Bath (8 miles) make great days out, with attractions including the Heights of Abraham and dramatic gorge views. The historic market town of Ashbourne (9 miles) has plenty to explore, and some of the Peak District’s most celebrated spots – including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bakewell and the Monsal Trail – are all within 14 miles.
