Walkers will be spoilt for choice here, with public footpaths leading directly from the property. Nearby Wirksworth (3 miles) is known for its independent shops, cafés and lively arts scene, while Belper (4 miles) sits within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site and offers scenic riverside walks.

When it’s time to leave your bolthole, head to Carsington Water (6 miles) for scenic walking and cycling routes along with excellent wildlife watching opportunities. Matlock (7 miles) and nearby Matlock Bath (8 miles) make great days out, with attractions including the Heights of Abraham and dramatic gorge views. The historic market town of Ashbourne (9 miles) has plenty to explore, and some of the Peak District’s most celebrated spots – including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bakewell and the Monsal Trail – are all within 14 miles.
