Escape into the lush English countryside with friends and family in this characterful cottage. Set in the sleepy hamlet of Snitterton, this abode is perfectly positioned for exploring the breathtaking landscape of the Peak District. Amble along the mountaintop trails and settle in for an al fresco picnic lunch atop the limestone summit of High Tor, before sinking onto your sofa with a sparkling aperitif and resting weary feet by the roaring wood burner.

This elegant property is brimming with charm and style. Picture dark wood exposed beams, cosy underfloor heating in the kitchen, opulent soft furnishings, and earthy green accents. Hang jackets by the entrance porch then step into the panelled farmhouse kitchen and raid the fridge for post-adventure nibbles and drinks. Be tempted into the lounge by the ambient warmth of the wood burner then flop onto the soft seating and unwind with a family game or enjoy a film on the TV. As evening approaches, pull out the wooden bench seats and gather around the sleek dining table to feast and plan your itinerary. After supper, recline on the sofa by the window with a sweet treat. Need some peace? Sneak away to the second lounge and curl up while you dive back into your holiday read. Rest up in the three tranquil bedrooms, consisting of a king, a double, and a single - each styled in calming neutral tones. Drink in the crisp country air and views of the open fields, perched in the leafy rock garden with your morning coffee.

History buffs can learn of the fascinating heritage of the area with a visit to the Peak District Mining Museum (3 miles) and descend into the underground tunnels of the Temple Mine to pan for gold. Back above ground, drink in panoramic views of the Derwent Valley with a cable car ride at Abraham Heights (3 miles) then lounge on the sun-dappled cafe terrace with chilled refreshments. Don't miss a chance to indulge in an iconic baked treat in the charming town of Bakewell (9 miles).

Beautiful, comfortable cottage, very well equipped in a lovely location. Our 8 year old granddaughter was very happy to find The Secret Garden book in her bedroom, and slept so well that she wrote a thank you note to her bed!
