The countryside surrounding Matlock Bath is called Little Switzerland for a reason; its majestic combination of limestone valleys, ancient woodland and rugged tors are a marvellous distraction from the stresses of modern life. Your accommodation is set on the outskirts of the village and boasts comfortable interiors and a warming wood burner. With space for up to eight guests, it’s just the ticket after a long day of exploring. Head inside ready to light the wood burner and settle down in the lounge, gathering the troops for film nights and board games in front of the TV. The stylish kitchen/diner is a feat of contemporary design with a central island to perch on for casual breakfasts and a large table for special suppers. The entire property has an underlying hint of Scandi-style, which gives the bedrooms a chic edge whether you are opting for the ground-floor single, one of four bedrooms on the first floor, or the delightful super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom on the second floor that has its own en-suite shower room. Completing the property is an elegant bathroom with a freestanding bath, and outside, the garden is a treat on balmy summer evenings. Positioned at the foot of the Derwent Valley, Matlock Bath is a haven for walkers and promises adventures galore across the countryside. You’ll find plenty to entertain your entire party at Matlock, 1 mile away, including shops and eateries. There are opportunities to put your thrill-seeking to the test with cable car views to the Heights of Abraham (2 miles), or why not take things slowly and enjoy a turn around Chatsworth House (9.5 miles)? The River Derwent is excellent for waterside strolls and, if you time your visit with the annual Illuminations festival, you’ll see it lit up in all its glory with a marvellous parade of boats.

All of the guests commented that this was the best equipped holiday rental we had ever visited! The kitchen was fully equipped with all the utensils you could need to cook full meals if you wanted, and the rooms were spacious and nicely furnished. There were even 2 high chairs. The house was very clean and well maintained. It is spread over 4 floorRead mores and we were impressed that all stairs had stair gates top and bottom (important with a toddler in our party). Lots of dog-friendly touches too. The owner was very helpful and we very much appreciated the treats/essentials left for us (milk, juice, bread and a bakewell pudding!) as our online grocery delivery didn't come. The location is good, walking distance (if slightly steep) down to Matlock Bath and a great base to explore the area. Hide

A wonderful house, perfect for an extended family weekend to celebrate a first birthday - probably the best equipped house we've ever stayed in, the owners have thought of everything. Maureen, the owner was super helpful, informative and welcoming. A very comfortable stay. I would certainly recommend staying here.

This place was absolutely perfect.. as a group (7 adults, 2 toddlers and 3 dogs) we often expect to compromise on some aspect of the stay but there were no compromised here! Kitchen was amazingly well equipped unlike so many places. Owners really attentive before the booking, with a couple of check in calls to ensure everything was in order. 2 highRead morechairs. Stairgates on top and bottom of all flights of stairs which is unheard of in most accommodation. Really friendly neighbours too! Hide

I picked Aurora as it was one of very few properties that had a truly safe garden for my young dog. I wasnt really looking at the property itself. We really lucked out with Aurora though as it is fantastic. High spec, lots of space, quiet and well located. The extra secure paddock was a nice bonus for first and last dog walks.
