We loved Lilac Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was well equipped, the cottage cosy with the electric log burner and we appreciated the Tassimo coffee machine. The village is beautiful and we enjoyed the walk to Thornbridge Brewery along the river. Our only issue was that the beds were too soft for us and we didn't sleep well. A great cottage for a base in a lovely little village. It was smaller than we expected and the kitchen slightly dominates the room. Only one small double sofa so it's not really a cottage for lounging around in. A couple of things need repaired but it was very clean and had the bonus of a Netflix package. The road outside is busy but gets quieter aRead mores day goes on and did not really impede on us. Hide

The cottage was compact (as you'd expect) but had everything we needed as a base to explore the area - loads of walks nearby, with Bakewell and Chatsworth a short drive away. Ashford is a charming village and the Ashford Arms and Bulls Head both great finds on our doorstep. During the day the road outside the cottage can get busy at times with lorrRead moreies and vans using it as a shortcut to somewhere. Hide

Lilac Cottage is a lovely cottage in a glorious village. Ashford in the Water is beautiful, with walks in all directions from the door, and super amenities (shop, pubs, tea room) and close to Bakewell, Chatsworth and the Monsal Trail. . Clean, comfortable and cosy cottage with everything you need and a thoughtful welcome pack on arrival. The only dRead moreownside is the outside space at the front as the B-road location can get very busy (and noisy). A lovely stay in a beautiful riverside village. Hide
