A surprisingly large cottage with lots of character, although beware of several very low doorways (we had several incidents of heads hitting the door frame) if anyone is a but taller than average. The kitchen is very well equipped for proper cooking, but take everything you need - no basics or condiments left. We had very hot weather but the houseRead more kept very cool, especially downstairs. The garden room was very well used and the garden itself very pleasant and a lovely sunny spot. Despite being on the roadside it was a very quiet country road - the odd farm vehicle and a few motorbikes and cars. But parking outside is only for one car, there is plenty of on-road parking around the corner which was not a problem at all. Location wise it is very close by car to Carsington Water for level walking or cycling. The Tissington Trail also close by with bicycle hire easily arranged (the night before) at Ashbourne. High Peaks Trail also not far and lovely scenery and walks. Hide

Beautifully decorated cottage in very quiet village. Lovely views on our walk through the village, but will need to drive to get supplies and pub meals (10-15 mins away). En-suite is a bit smaller than I'd hoped and did worry I'd flood it when showering as it's an open shower. Only room for one car outside the cottage and a bit of a squeeze. Beautifully restored cottage in the Peaks. Very well equipped kitchen. My only comment would be that the on site parking is very limited but this did not prove to be a problem as there was plenty of space by the phone box as mentioned in the cottage blurb. The cottage was beautiful, very clean, very well furnished. Everything was of great quality. The history of the cottages was fascinating. There was a lovey outdoor patio area at the back.
