Well equipped little cottage in a great location especially for walkers. Great pub the Sportsman down the road. Welcome pack of bread milk and Prosecco was very welcome. The garden is not dog friendly as it is not enclosed and up very steep steps but great view if you can get up there. Parking was a bit difficult at the weekend.

Ideal location for walkers, Kinderscout and surrounding moors easily accessible. Hedgehog Cottage was a lovely place to stay but we found it could have been cleaner and the garden area is not suitable for dogs and potentially dangerous in wet weather due to steep slippery steps. Roadside parking available nearby on a narrow road was convenient. We Read morewere unlucky with the bad weather but Hayfield it as a good base to explore the Peak District. Hide

Cottage is quite small, but comfortable, The outside space is not what's advertised. It's overgrown, clutted, steps upto the upper level of garden (And I use the term loosely) is overgrown & dangerous. The cottage itself maybe dog friendly, Outside in the back are definitely not. Will not be returning.

We had such a great time at Hedgehog Cottage! It was our first time in the Peak District and we appreciated all the nice touches in the cottage. The guides and maps were really useful. They inspired us to do a variety of walks including Mam Tor and Kinder Scout. I would highly recommend a stay at Hedgehog Cottage!

Lovely cottage in a superb location for walking up Kinderscout. Well equipped kitchen and having tea, coffee, milk, butter, bread and jam left for us was such a nice touch. Owner very helpful and friendly on the phone too.

Excellent facilities, everything we needed was there, the master bed is huge and very comfortable. The cottage is in an excellent location, ideal for exploring the Peak District. Lots of facilities in the town as well, we ate in the Pack Horse, the Sportsman and The George. The village stores shop has everything you need including cakes and pies.

I really enjoyed my time at Hedgehog Cottage, it's a cracking little place in an amazing location. There was everything needed for cooking and living and I passed my time in comfort. If you're looking at it, a couple of things worth knowing are: the back garden is up some stone steps with a guide rail only up the first two thirds of the way and it'Read mores small and not enclosed, so dogs on a lead; and forget a standup shower if you're much over 6' tall - save your knees and have a bath. The Cottage is in a good position, warm, cosy and well equipped. Good views from windows. Unfortunately, the garden isnt dog friendly as its not enclosed and the steps to it are very slippery when wet. Cottage also needs a good clean and decorate. The owner is aware of my views on the cleanliness.
