This charming barn conversion, just outside the Peak District National Park, sleeps two guests, making it an idyllic romantic bolthole. As expected, you’ll have an exceptional selection of walking routes at your fingertips, including waterside strolls at Carsington Water (1 mile) and picturesque hikes along the Tissington Trail (5 miles). The attractive village of Brassington is just 1 mile away and boasts two delightful village inns.

The pretty barn conversion is located on the owner’s working farm and has been impeccably restored to retain the property’s character and charm. The traditional stone flooring adds a sense of style to the living areas, coupled with carefully chosen soft furnishings and accessories. Underfloor heating is a welcome addition on chilly evenings. After a good night’s sleep in the super-king-size bedroom, enjoy a hearty breakfast at the farmhouse-style dining table in the bright and airy dining area. Outside, there’s a spacious garden with far-reaching countryside views. Dine alfresco whilst watching the sun set and the cattle grazing in the nearby fields.

Carsington Water is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you enjoy walking, cycling, sailing, canoeing or paddleboarding, you’ll find it all at this stunning reservoir. The traffic-free Tissington Trail follows a former railway line and is a wonderful place for cycling, as it’s relatively flat. Join it in Tissington and follow it all the way to Ashbourne, a pretty market town with cobbled streets and many independent shops and eateries. Spend a relaxing afternoon pottering around Chatsworth House (14.5 miles), on the banks of the River Derwent. The spectacular house has over 30 rooms to explore, as well as 105 acres of magnificent gardens, sweeping parkland and a vast network of walking trails. There’s also an elegant cafe serving traditional afternoon tea.

The Old Barn is a high standard conversion, spotlessly clean, well equipped, and very comfortable. The rural location offers peace and quiet and a stunning view from the pretty garden at the rear. Good location for exploring the southern Peak District. One of the best holiday properties I have stayed in - highly recommend.

A comfortable holiday cottage in a quiet rural location but not too far from a village and a few miles to the nearest town. Fantastic countryside views - and private outdoor space which can be enjoyed when the weather allows.
