Welcome to this historic property nestled in a picture-postcard, rural village in the South Derbyshire Dales. It’s perfect for a group of four friends and two dogs ready to explore the wonderful surrounding countryside and the Peak District National Park. Whether you’re a cyclist, walker, hiker or nature lover, there is an abundance of things to do and places to see in the area.

Oozing character and style, this traditional cottage has been converted from a pump house once serving the village. The pretty lounge has comfortable seating and a large SkyTV with DVD and sound bar - perfect for cosy evenings in watching your favourite series or a film. Head through to the well-equipped kitchen, which also has a four-seater table so you can all sit and enjoy a homecooked meal together. To the rear of the cottage is a peaceful lawned garden, surrounded by mature plants, and a patio with table and chairs.

The small village of Longford is nestled within what’s known as the ‘Derbyshire Golden Triangle’, surrounded by picturesque countryside and 1 mile from the nearest pub. Walkers, cyclists and nature lovers will enjoy the routes leading from the doorstep of this property, and if you travel 7 miles north, you’ll be able to access the plethora of trails in the Peak District. Head to Foremark Reservoir (12.5 miles), a 230-acre nature reserve ideal for walking, fishing and sailing. You can also try your hand at windsurfing or stand-up paddleboarding. If you’re real adrenaline seekers, spend a day at the magical Alton Towers (12 miles).

We loved our stay at 1 Pumphouse Cottages. The cottage is extremely comfortable, probably the best equipped self-catering accommodation we have ever stayed in, and is in a beautiful location. We were able to fully relax while taking full advantage of the surrounding countryside and visitor attractions. The dogs thoroughly enjoyed being there, buRead moret because they are young and lively they found their greatest entertainment in barking loudly and chasing people who were innocently walking down the road next to the garden! This is an amazing cottage. The bed is super comfy, lovely big shower, kitchen is totally equipped making it a real home from home. The garden is fully enclosed and private, and we had great fun playing with our granddaughter and the dogs loved it. It was very clean, tv had loads of choices too. The walk across the road was great for the dogs althoRead moreugh next time we would probably walk both ways across country as there is no pavement in the road. This is a great cottage - very well equipped, warm, comfortable beds, and nicely decorated. The garden is ideal for sitting out and enjoying the peace and quiet, except for the lovely birdsong. Very secure and mainly lawn, so perfect for dogs. Good food served in dog-friendly pubs in neighbouring villages, and an easy quick route into Ashbourne. Lovley place, had everything you need, big highlight was able to let dogs in garden were they were secure and safe, also very safe dog walking route nearby. When cooking you had every utensil to prepare Credit to the owners.

Lovely cottage ideally placed to access the Peak district and Derby. Also nice local walks. No facilities in the village but good pubs a few minutes away in the car. Like everywhere else in the country, watch out for some humungous pot holes!

What a gem of a cottage. A stunning location with lovely local walks. Peace and quiet but with everything you need within a short drive. We had a lovely weekend break. The cottage has all the basics and perfectly situated to explore Derbyshire and the Peaks. The cottage is dog friendly, the garden is enclosed but as we have an inquisitive spaniel we still kept him on a long lead outside just incase. One thing to note is it says no dogs allowed upstairs which is standard at a lot of Read morecottages and our dog doesnt go upstairs at home so no problem for us . We would stay again if in the area. A wonderful find in this quaint quiet village. No street lights, no shops and no pub ! The cottage was lovely and there was everything you need for a break away. A lovely cottage in a gorgeous location. The enclosed garden was so good and lots of local walks. The owners were very quick to respond and very helpful. Properly dog friendly. Very secure garden and tiled floors. Treats left for humans and dogs. Several people did come into the garden for access front doors for neighbours houses but not an issue. Beautifully decorated and fully equipped. Very comfortable. The house is at a T junction and for most part very quiet. Absolutely beautiful cottage in every way. Peaceful, comfortable,clean equipped with everything you need like home from home. Enclosed garden is perfect for pets to run around without worry of escaping. The owner Carol is lovely and is only on the end of a phone if needed. Will be back next year to recharge my batteries. Lovely cottage and lovely dogs walks right on the doorstep. The garden was secure for the dogs, it was home from home. Kitchen included a double steamer, first time I've not had to take my own. The cottage is situated perfectly at the very south of the Peak District and Derbyshire in a small rural village. What a beautiful cottage and lively owners. They made us welcome before we even arrived with a phonecall, asking about our likes and dislikes, info on the local area etc. On arrival we were greeted to a bottle of wine. And cupboards full of the essentials which made life much easier. The area is idilic with a nice pub round the corner. We loved our stay at the Pumphouse. It felt very cozy but with plenty of space for the 4 of us and two dogs. There was plenty of places to walk the dogs and other walks just a short car journey.
